Reskinned Opens at Resonant Gallery for @artprize on view Sept. 18th through Oct. 3rd.
To reskin something is to transform its exterior to treat the surface as malleable, customizable, something that can be swapped out, layered over, or rebuilt entirely. This exhibition takes that idea as a starting point for a broader body of work, one that treats the surface itself as a place where transformation happens.
The capacity to be re-formed extends across this exhibition to animals and machines, to discarded objects, to wetlands and weather, to signals and the infrastructures that carry them. Raw or salvaged material is repurposed to serve a new function, rebuilt into something that moves, speaks, or responds. Bodies perform for an audience or a camera, adjusting how they look and move depending on who's watching. Some works don't move forward so much as circle back a loop, a tide, a routine repeated until the repetition itself becomes the point. Each work pushes and pulls its original form — things persist by being remade.

Huge congratulations to all of the artists selected for SHORT CUTS 2026 ❕❕❕

This October, we’re excited to activate Cleveland across both the East and West Sides, bringing SHORT CUTS to the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque and the Capitol Theatre, with additional programming at SHED.

Every film in SHORT CUTS is five minutes or less—but within that shared constraint is an incredible breadth of ideas, approaches, genres, and ways of working. We can’t wait to bring all of these voices together and see just how expansive five minutes (or less!) can become.

Both screenings will be free and open to the entire public. See you at the movies this October.

Eric Souther (USA) is one of the featured artists for TONIGHT’s film screening Speculative Nows from 6-9pm at Proxy Gallery.

“Deep Time of Latent Space” relates the strata of human activity within large language models as another layer of the Anthropocene, which places AI into the realm of geological thinking that spirals into deep time and broadcasts into the future.
The AI narrator takes us through the most incomprehensible moments of our history starting with the big bang, creation of earth, and the start of life. It uses its generalized knowledge to resolve our grasp of these moments into data-visualized images. It does so with confidence and a little bit of attitude, however, it tends to hallucinate. These hallucinations shine a light on what is needed to create a more ethical and accurate AI.

Eric Souther’s creative research draws from a multiplicity of disciplines, including new materialism, anthropology, ritual, deep time, and toolmaking. These areas are read through one another and coalesce in technological assemblages that form emergent systems or software for exploring relations. They instrumentalize these systems so that they can become performative ways to navigate unexpected images/meaning making. Eric’s work takes many pathways, which include interactive installation, audio-visual performance, single-channel video, and software.

“Speculative Nows” is the first of many collaborative explorations by Kelley O’Brien (USA) and Karolina Pawelcyzk (PL). This film series explores hypothetical pasts and futures, providing both Polish and American perspectives on systems of power, society and our environments.

Tiny piece of an A/V shared stream with @tanukispidercat on cello and electronics. I grabbed their Twitch stream and merged it with my hdmi video signal. I streamed that back out to them via Twitch for some cross-country improvisation. And Atom Boy bombed in there too. This utilizes an @ericsouther @touchdesigner tool pixelate! Thanks for you work eric!#experimentalmedia #expandedcinema #experimentalnoise #brokenmedia #changesocietynow

Curating the future through rooted experimental practices.

interlaced.tv brings together artists pushing the edges of analog video and experimental moving image. Centering materiality, error, and unpredictability, the platform highlights practices where organic and technical processes collide to generate new forms.

Featuring works by Samuel Karow, Vox Garbles, Ruxandra Mitache, Timothy Nohe, Shon Kim, and Eric Souther, this program foregrounds both pioneering and emerging voices shaping video as an unstable, transformative medium.

Free and online throughout May.
