identity loss as a believer
———
These are just some of my thoughts I’ve been having recently since my heart failure diagnosis. When faced with the unknown, surviving when you should’ve died—it changes you.
I’m more intentional with my thoughts and actions today than I was two months ago. Every moment of the day holds more clarity and discernment than ever before, hopefully in sharing these thoughts it causes someone to live a life with intention.

So adorable, and what’s crazy is that Alyssa has been a mom for 12 days, but this photo captures a peace and love that only exists between a mom and daughter (black and white) 😍😍😍 #niece #momanddaughter #family #nikonphotography #d750 #blackandwhite #12daysold

Good morning! Rise and praise for another beautiful Sunday morning. I absolutely love this scripture and the message it brings to us this Sunday morning...be thankful, be filled with praise, enter into His house with worship, know that He is good and we are his people! Such a powerful reminder of how to conduct ourselves this Sunday while we make our way to church. #bestill #nkjv #worship #praise #sundaymorning #sundayfunday #faithlovehope #faith #family #love #blessed #beautiful #prayer #humble #servant #god #godlyman #godlywoman #friends #mercy #fresno #dailydevotion

It's important to train both mind and the body, so you may stand up and defend those who cannot defend themselves. Physical strength is weak in comparison to the strength of the mind that meditates on the word of God. Though there are times we physical strength is needed, let us hope that words will suffice in those moments, but if not then our physical strength will be put to use. We stand together, we love together, we cry together, we will overcome together. I stand with the dreamers, the poor, the oppressed, the sick, the dying, the weak...for all those who seek new life and freedom from oppression--We stand with you. The greatest of these is LOVE. May everything you do, from the smallest of thoughts to greatest pillars of strength, be out of LOVE. #loveyourself #humble #god #faithlovehope #family #scripture #daily #strength #cross #christ #disciple

There's more power than you realize in the two simple words "Be Still". When life is overwhelming and you feel lost or confused God reminds us to "be still" and to remember He is God, and most importantly He is working on your behalf. #god #servant #humble #prayer #faithlovehope #loved #beautiful #blessed #fresno #family #wisdomwednesday

Friends: Why are you upset? Did you know the man?

Me: No. But I know what it's like to be harassed by police officers for being big and black. For men like me it only takes a moment to make our sons and daughters fatherless. And that's to real of the fact we have to live with every day.
