There has been a lot going on these past few months and I haven’t known how to put say it myself so I’m just going to say it.

Coastal has been sold to @bpgsports

This wasn’t something that was taken lightly and definitely not something where I was trying to cut and run.

Matt McGinnis and I created Coastal 6 years in order to give the boys in the area an opportunity to get recruited. There wasn’t one solid high school showcase team in the area that brought together the majority of the talent from the coast and we wanted to fix that.

We started in the fall of 2020 with 29 players total for three tournaments. We made sure everyone got two tournaments and the boys went out and produced! By the following year we had 80 players and then we exploded into youth and girls teams.

A little idea we had, has turned into something bigger than I ever could have imagined.

I’m still going to be coaching and heavily involved but these past 6 years have been incredible. The games and practice are one thing, but the family that has been developed is second to none. These kids and the families have taught me so much about lacrosse, life, being a man and a leader.

Of course I had a lot of help along the way. Specifically Michele Smith. She keeps everyone in order, even myself. She goes above and beyond no matter what for her people. Lord help those that aren’t her people. She’s the ultimate “get shit done” person.

And the club would be absolutely nothing without our coaches. Many have been with us since the inception, many have come on more recently.

Anyone can tell a kid to go hit a wall or run a 2.3.1 o, but to connect to the kids and be there during some of life’s biggest ups and downs is something not to be taken lightly. I know these guys lose sleep thinking about the team or how they handled a situation with a player.

And then our families. You handed us your kids and trusted us with them, and that’s not a small thing. You drove the long hours, sat through the heat/cold and the rain, fed half the roster out of your coolers and showed up when it counted. The lacrosse was fun, but watching all of you turn into one big family is what I’ll carry with me.
