Sports in Kansas Football Player to Watch: Erik Olivas, Goddard, Sr. RB | 5-8, 175

Erik Olivas enters his senior season as one of Class 5A’s most productive running backs after a breakout junior campaign. The 5-foot-8, 175-pound playmaker rushed for 1,661 yards while adding 446 receiving yards for 2,269 all-purpose yards and 20 total touchdowns. He also eclipsed 3,100 career varsity all-purpose yards entering his final season. Olivas earned Second Team All-League honors and a Player of the Week recognition while helping Goddard to a 6-4 record and a playoff appearance. His strong production has already drawn college offers from Friends University and Benedictine.

Olivas is looking to build on that success during his senior year. “I’m excited to be with my guys again, working hard. I’m expecting to go out on a good note, and my goal is to rush for 2,000 yards,” Olivas said. Other standout teammates include Brock Sullivan and Cooper Glasscock as Goddard looks to make another postseason run. Fun fact on Olivas: despite standing at just 5-8 he can dunk a basketball showing off his athleticism. #sportsinkansas
