Pump Lane in Galway's West End has had a serious makeover 🎨 Five local artists have turned the lane into a new open-air gallery during a creative weekend supported by @creativeireland and @galwaycitycouncil Members of the community helped to clean up and prep the space for the artists, who were given free rein. You can spot local slang, references to Galway's graffiti culture and a bit of Gaeilge throughout the pieces. "More art, more colour and more community initiatives, we say," said project lead Lisa Regan. 👏

For two weeks every July, Galway asks different questions. “Have you been to much of the festival?” “What have you seen?” The weather becomes almost secondary. My own answer usually involved another cycle along the canal to Bailey Allen Hall for the First Thought Talks. Under Caitríona Crowe’s thoughtful curation, they are never simply talks. They are opportunities to hear directly from people living the stories we usually encounter only in headlines. You leave understanding the world a little better and, often, yourself too. That is the quiet power of Galway International Arts Festival. It doesn’t just bring world class artists and thinkers to our city. For a little while, it changes the conversation of the city itself. A vibrant new mural on Pump Lane is bringing colour, creativity and local stories into the heart of Galway's Westend. 🎨💙 Created by artist Erin Alice (@erinalice.art ) and coordinated by Lisa Regan (@lisareganpr ), this community-led project was made possible through collaboration between local partners, Galway City Council and the private sector. Supported through the Creative Communities initiative by the Creative Ireland Programme, the artwork is an example of how creative collaboration can transform shared spaces, celebrate local identity and invite people to connect with the places they call home.
