And deservedly so when you’re 175!
Thank you to all our wonderful clients, friends and families who celebrated with us despite the wind and rain. It meant the world to us.
You know it was a fabulous party when shoes were swapped and the carpet needed a clean the next day 😂🥳
An enormous thank you to Gabby and her team @cloverculinaryprojects for their delectable morsels that superseded all our expectations and @flowersvasette for the extraordinary floral wall. The scent as you come out of the lift was pure magic. Everything was a feast for the senses!
We haven’t covered everyone in these photos though there will be more to come.

Melbourne’s architecture and design community gathered at @kfivefurniture last month to celebrate the launch of Roy Grounds’ furniture collection alongside @tonylee_author’s book dedicated to the legendary Australian architect. The evening brought together respected voices, including @dana.tomic.hughes, @clarecousins, @peter.malatt, Dr @suzie_attiwill, Dr @gjchyon, Victoria Grounds, Maggie Edmond and 98-year-old (still practising!) architect Peter McIntyre, who personally knew Grounds. ⁠

The reissued furniture collection reflects Grounds’ philosophy of intelligent design within spatial constraints. His 1940s vision of “living better with less” feels remarkably relevant to today’s housing affordability challenges and environmental consciousness. ⁠

Conversations on Craft, Architecture, and Roy Grounds.

Come along to K5 Furniture tonight - Friday 5 September- for an evening that brings together leading voices in Australian architecture and design.

Moderated by @dana.tomic.hughes - @ClareCousins, Gyungju Chyon @gichyon, @peter.malatt & myself will explore Roy Grounds’ legacy and the ways design continues to shape how we live today.

The evening will also celebrate the launch of Tony Lee’s new book Roy Grounds: Experiments in Minimum Living, the first publication dedicated exclusively to Grounds’ work, including his often-overlooked experiments in furniture design.

That’s a wrap on Melbourne Design Week 2025, and what a week it was.

From the curiosity sparked in our panels “Design the Future in an AI World” and “The Art of Wellbeing”, to the calm introspection found inside the Lotus Meditation Pod, Space That Holds Us invited guests to slow down, tune in, and reflect on how design can support more conscious ways of living.

Set inside our Collingwood showroom, the exhibition became a sensory space of conversation and connection — combining tactile materials, neurotechnology, and gentle rituals to explore one big question:
What does it mean to create spaces that truly hold us — emotionally, ethically, and physically?

A huge thank you to our inspiring panelists, speakers, collaborators, and every visitor who added their energy to the week.

How do we find balance between reflection and productivity in our busy lives? Last night’s ‘The Art of Wellbeing’ panel was a powerful reminder of the connection between creativity, mental health, and the spaces we inhabit.

Thank you to Vipoo Srivilasa, Isabel Duncan, and Nusra Qureshi (@nusraqureshi) with moderation by Suzette Jackson, for exploring how rituals, materials, and mindful design can support emotional wellbeing.

One question from the audience stayed with us: “Does art create society, or does society create art?”
In this moment of global rethinking, we’re asking not just how we build better spaces, but how we build better lives. With care. With creativity. With consciousness.

Led by a phenomenal panel, Monday saw a powerful conversation on the evolving relationship between AI, design, and ethics as part of our Space that Holds Us exhibition.

One thing was clear: the future of design lies not in competition between humans and machines, but in collaboration and understanding. Thank you to our incredible panel and everyone who joined us in the showroom for a thoughtful, inspiring night.

Emma Jackson X Grounds Collection
We were delighted to create a limited edition release of the Grounds Collection Ottoman with Silurian fabric by Artist and architect, Emma Jackson.

Emma Jackson is an architect with an abiding interest in earth science. Her multimedia art practice echos belonging, connecting us to the ground we walk on.

We featured the ‘Island Rug’ collection in our showroom over Melbourne Design Week illuminating Australia islands with a unique volcanic story.
