MEET THE CAST

Sahib Silver-el @sahibsilverel is a DMV-based actor who will be playing Shadow of a Flame's Husband, an empathetic man with a cutting darkness behind his eyes.

In Sahib's words: "My acting career has been fantastic. I got into acting because my grandparents were big on watching movies, and I loved the art of acting. I started with theater arts in high school and, of course, life kicked in, but I've always had something in me that pulled me back to acting. In September of 2025, I joined John Casablanca School of Modeling and Acting, graduated, and recently signed the Model and Talent Management Agency. John Casablanca gave me all the ins and outs of acting in this industry, and they prepared me for the world. I will always be grateful for them."

OA JET graduate My-Yor Corley is preparing to direct Shadow of a Flame, a psychological horror/drama about an amnesiac couple trapped in a romantic cabin where dark forces reset them whenever they try to leave. To achieve this, himself and 7 OA JET graduates are teaming up and bringing all of their talent and experience to serve in key roles including: director of photography, production designer, costume designer, gaffer, sound mixer, props master, and locations manager!

Through OA JET, they formed the professional network and working relationships that brought them together for this production. Each graduate is bringing experience gained through annual training films, OA JET workshops, and other professional projects to their role in the film.

Their collaboration reflects exactly what OA JET was created to foster: emerging professionals building careers together and creating new opportunities for one another.

Want to support them and get this movie made? Visit their crowdfunding on Seed&Spark (Linked in their Bio)🔗! Their crowdfunding ends SEPTEMBER 9TH!

“I Need You to Hear Me, But I Can’t Speak” is a story about exploring what estrangement can look like through the eyes of a Muslim revert, her daughter, and her mother whom she’s estranged from. It’s about moments in life when we have so much we want to say, but we just don’t have to words to speak. It’s about how vulnerable it can feel to just be honest.

Muslim women are dynamic and independent. We grieve and we yearn. We love and we hurt. We are multifaceted. As a filmmaker, my passion and drive is to tell Muslim American stories that aren’t about being Muslim, but about how being Muslim contributes to our day-to day life. Religion is not a struggle to overcome, but a lens in which to look at life. This is how we achieve well-rounded representation.

I am so grateful to everyone who was a part of bringing the story to life. I love and appreciate each one of you. It has been a dream come true. I’ve been developing these characters and their stories for some time now, and to see it all become a tangible thing has been life changing.

I can’t wait to share this one.

Last night’s Cast, Crew & Donor screening of Malcolm & Me at the @icavcu was amazing. We are so incredibly grateful to each and every person who helped us get this special story to the screen. A few more tweaks, adding the final sound mix and then it is ready to make the festival rounds!

Huge thank you to the ICA for hosting the event and to Chioke for leading the conversation following the screening.
