Being #Eleven in real life ain’t easy
I sit and wonder whether or not to write this truthfully
I decided to do so in case there’s someone out there that needs to hear it and feel they’re not alone, even if I risk my eternal love life because there’s stigma around this matter. Everyone thinks Eleven from @strangerthingstv saves the world but is Eleven saved in the end? No one can answer it. I was diagnosed with many things in my life due to a drug induce and I used to see what other people couldn’t see - speaking to myself I was - fighting ‘em all. I’ve seen apocalyptic events in my mind and I’ve been hospitalized 9 times in wards in my entire life. When people talk about drugs like should I try LSD I’m always suggesting they shouldn’t because it fucks things up in your head for years to come. So yes, people love the girl with powers. The girl who fights monsters. The girl who bleeds from her nose and still saves the world. But what they don’t show you is what happens when the cameras stop rolling. When the monsters aren’t CGI. When they live in your own mind. I wasn’t “saving the world.” I was trying to survive it. Nine hospitalizations. Nine times sitting in sterile rooms under fluorescent lights wondering how my life became this. Nine times rebuilding from scratch. When people romanticize psychedelics or say “it’s just a trip,” I’m afraid I can’t stay quiet, because sometimes it doesn’t end when the trip ends. Sometimes it opens doors your brain doesn’t know how to close. And some of us don’t come back the same.

There’s stigma around this/Around psych wards/Around psychosis. Around saying, “I lost my mind for a while.” People get uncomfortable. They don’t know where to look. They don’t know what to say. But here’s the truth: surviving your own mind is a different kind of superpower.

And maybe being Eleven isn’t about saving the world. Maybe it’s about surviving the Upside Down and still choosing to stay.

If you’re out there and you’ve fought battles no one saw..
if you’ve sat in hospital rooms feeling like your life was over
You’re not alone, some of us bleed quietly & we’re still here
