Friday 30 October 9pm: Errol Linton 🎶

Born and raised in Brixton, singer/harmonica player Errol Linton @errol.linton got his first break 30 years ago when heard busking by a BBC producer and has steadily built his reputation as a world-class blues talent ever since. He was nominated for ‘Best Blues Act’ in the 2019 Jazz FM Awards, featured alongside Big Bill Broonzy in BBC 2’s ‘Two Generations of the Blues’ and has been championed by radio presenters John Peel, Paul Jones, & Cerys Matthews. He has toured the world opening for artists including Bo Diddley, Dr John and Blind Boys of Alabama and released seven albums, with several including his latest, “Break the Seal”, produced by Grammy-winning producer Liam Watson (White Stripes). Home grown blues at its best.

A little blues for your Sunday. @errol.linton at @thelongroadfest ongroad

Among a weekend packed with country and Americana, Linton’s blues offered another reason to explore @thelongroadfest beyond the main stage.

@errol.linton is performing at the @midhurst_jazz on Friday 20th November!!! 🙌🙌🙌

Errol stormed the MJFBF stage at last year’s Festival, so we’re thrilled they’re coming again! He won the UK Blues Challenge in 2023, and he’s the harmonica you hear tearing through Joe Bonamassa’s Grammy nominated album. Expect Chicago blues shot through with reggae swing, soulful harp, and a band that absolutely smokes.

Our latest series coincides with our 15th anniversary!!! 15 years of bringing exceptionally talented musicians to our Rotherhithe neighbourhood.

The first gig is a change to the programme we had already announced: Eliza Marshall will now be coming in January or February, to be confirmed.

Instead, we have the Cuban Blues band who headlined the @tangled_blues festival in August this year, Ramon Goose and The Compadres. Ramon Goose, recognised for his brilliant guitar playing and collaborations with African musicians (in the past he’s brought us the West African Blues Project and duo with Senny Camara) has been hanging out in Havana, recording with renowned musicians there, and is now lighting up London with his Cuba-inspired compositions.

A month later, on 5th November, we welcome back Errol Linton and his band. We took them to headline Tangled Blues in 2025 but it’s a long while since we had Errol playing here. “When are you having Errol back?” is a question often asked. Now it’s happening. Brixton Blues with reggae lilts. Unique and brilliant.

On Wed 18th November we are trying a new venue: @magazzino_london has an arch along Druid Street. South African singer songwriter Zaria will take your breath away. She’s one of our @tangled_roots_festival West Country discoveries.

Finally concert violinist Bogdan Vacarescu is on Wed 9th Dec bringing us his scintillating sextet Unicorn Frequencies. It’ll be a festive special bursting with fabulous Eastern European music, some of it rarely heard.

This is a great programme: please support it by coming and by spreading the word. Audiences are vital!! Please help us make this 15th Autumn season a brilliant one and we can’t make it so without you!!!
