POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It was a pleasure to be invited to speak at the Black History Month Health Awareness Seminar, hosted by Lorna.

I was impressed by the engagement of the attendees, whose thoughtful questions reflected a genuine desire to learn.

I delivered my presentation on my personal journey with prostate cancer, followed by Errol, who shared his lived experience. While our journeys differ, our message is the same: men should get a PSA blood test. Prostate cancer is not something you have to fear or accept as inevitable. The blood test can save your life. @errolmckellar1

Fantastic to join the team at @nightingalecsc for a talk from Errol McKellar 💙

The talk was brilliant and a great reminder of the need to MOT our bodies, not just our vehicles. The Nightingale is such a wonderful local support centre and a charity our community is so proud of, and Errol’s work is a great addition to theirs.

Last year, I joined parliamentary colleagues to call for targeted prostate cancer screening for this with the highest risk. We must end the delays that are costing lives.

If you are looking for more information on prostate cancer, or are concerned you have symptoms, speak to your GP.

🎟️ You are invited to join us on Wednesday 22nd July 2026 for an online panel discussion exploring the real-world barriers to prostate cancer testing highlighted in the film.

❗️ Black men are twice as likely to develop prostate cancer and twice as likely to die from the disease. In SASH’s Your Health is Your Wealth film about prostate cancer awareness, SASH interviewed seven men and women with African and/or Caribbean heritages, asking what needs to happen to increase prostate cancer awareness and improve confidence to seek healthcare services.

🎞️ We’ll be showcasing clips from the film focused on barriers Black men experience to gain information, talk about prostate health and when seeking healthcare services, and discussing what needs to happen to improve access and raise awareness of prostate cancer.

👥 Our expert panel includes: Ally Fogg (Chair of the Association for Male Health and Wellbeing), Elijah Amooti (Independent Health Promotions Consultant), Errol McKellar MBE (from the Errol McKellar Foundation) and Joseph Olubondun (Turning Point Colleague and film participant).

💚 Whether you are a professional working in health, community services, or simply someone passionate about improving health inclusion, this online event is an opportunity to listen, learn and take action. The event is open to all and we encourage anyone who is passionate about improving health inclusion to attend.

🔗 To register your place, please visit mytp.me/SASHwebinar or visit www.turning-point.co.uk/discover/sash-webinar-prostate-cancer for more information, as well as to watch the full Your Health is Your Wealth film.

Please share with anyone else who would be interested in attending.
We look forward to seeing you there 😊

We were back on @itv @gmb today!

Fantastic to see the Back in the Game campaign featured, a movement designed to help men living with incontinence get back into sport, back into stadiums, and back to supporting the clubs they love.

Campaign ambassadors @errolmckellar1 and Brian Horton, both former football coaches and both prostate cancer survivors, joined @paulbrandtv and @kategarraway on the sofa to share why this campaign is so important.

The programme also cut live to @hullcity, where @ameliabeckett spoke with Daniel Elliott, Facilities Manager, about why the club chose to install our incontinence bins. His message was simple: it just makes sense.

The feedback so far has been incredibly positive, with some men finally able to get #BackInTheGame thanks to the dignity and confidence these bins provide.

⚽ Small cost.
⚽ Big impact.
⚽ Life-changing for those who need it.

Watch the full Good Morning Britain segment on their YouTube channel.

Big thanks to the team at @causecollectively for making this happen!

The Errol McKellar Foundation is a UK-based charity dedicated to raising awareness of prostate cancer, particularly within communities at higher risk. Founded by Errol McKellar, a former youth football coach and garage owner who survived the disease, the organisation focuses on early detection through its proactive "motive" of reaching men where they feel most comfortable.

🚀Core Mission and Impact

The foundation operates on the belief that "ignorance is not bliss" when it comes to men's health. Its primary goals include:

Community Outreach: Using unconventional spaces such as football clubs and car garages to start conversations about health.

Encouraging Testing: Raising awareness of the PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) test and urging men over 50 (or over 45 for Black men) to get checked.

Addressing Disparities: Highlighting that 1 in 4 Black men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, compared to 1 in 8 men overall.

Support Networks: Providing a platform for survivors and those currently undergoing treatment to share their experiences.

🔧The Founder’s Story

Errol McKellar’s journey began following his own diagnosis in 2010. During his recovery, he used his garage in Hackney as an informal clinic, offering customers a discount on their MOT if they promised to go to the doctor for a prostate check. This grassroots approach eventually evolved into a formal foundation that has since influenced thousands of men to take charge of their health.

🤴🏾Why It Matters

In the UK, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. Because early-stage prostate cancer often shows no symptoms, the foundation's work in promoting regular screening is vital for saving lives through early intervention.

Shocking stats: 1 in 4 black men and 1 in 8 white men are being diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.

Important work being done by the #errolmckellarfoundation to raise awareness. Ongoing work continues to raise funds for a mobile testing unit.

Last week's Suffolk Safety Day at Ipswich Town FC reminded us why we do what we do.
Real stories. Real people. Real change.
From Sean Toon opening up about mental health to Errol McKellar's powerful message on prostate cancer awareness, and Matt marking 15 years since his life-changing accident | every session hit home.
Jason Anker's Fit Scale showed us how our emotional state affects every decision we make at work.
And Billy Schwer closed the day with a reminder to live and work with purpose.
This is what safety culture looks like | people brave enough to share their truth so others can learn.
Thank you to everyone who was part of it.
Let's keep the conversation going.
