@accessvfx wasn’t supposed to exist.

It certainly wasn’t supposed to become a global community.

Back in 2017, the idea was simple: what if the visual effects industry stopped talking about inclusion separately and did something together?

A handful of studios came together to run a shared @nationalinclusionweek. We planned a series of events, invited each other’s employees, opened our doors and, for the first time, collaborated on something bigger than ourselves.

What happened next surprised all of us.

Despite competing for the same projects and the same talent, we discovered we worked incredibly well together. There was a real appetite to keep going.

So… we did.

That one week became mentoring. Mentoring became outreach. Outreach became education, careers events, podcasts, partnerships and a global community of studios, educators and volunteers all working towards the same goal: making VFX and animation more accessible, inclusive and transparent.

Nearly a decade later, I’m still amazed by what can happen when an industry chooses collaboration over competition.

Sometimes the best ideas aren’t the ones you spend years planning.

They’re the ones you simply refuse to let end.

Swipe to see where it all started… ➡️

Where do I even begin.....

📣 FORMAT Group 2025 EVENT SEASON IS OVER!! 📣

Last week, our team once again took over the city of Liverpool, delivering three days of games industry and creative industry community events.

This year marked our second consecutive return to Liverpool, and we're in awe of the community's support! ✊🏻🎮

🔶 RE:FORMAT Liverpool Summit - 29//10//2025

Our RE:FORMAT Liverpool summit, delivered in partnership with Liverpool Game-Dev Network, more than 150 industry leaders from video games, technology, investment, and the wider creative economy joined us for:

- Thought-leadership talks and panels

- Curated speed networking

- Game publisher meetings

- Our signature RE:FORMAT industry mixer

🔶 FORMATGG: The Ultimate Gaming Social - 30//10//2025

On 30 October, our flagship annual event, FORMATGG: the ultimate gaming social, returned larger than ever. The event featured our most extensive programme to date, including:

- The highest number of music performances to date

- More exhibitors on our show floor

- A record number of streamers and creators

- A bigger Kuoda VIP creator lounge

We are deeply grateful to our community for turning out in force and supporting our team's vision for the UK gaming community and industry! 🧡

🔶 FORMATGG: After Hours - 31//10//2025

On 31 October, FORMATGG: After Hours, delivered in partnership with Timeless Gaming Convention, took over Acains Arcade for a final night of games, community, and late-night social experiences, closing our three-day programme.

This year has without a doubt been the busiest of my entire life. The @format_group has hosted 2 summits, @tedxnorthernquarter, our official 3 day festival, and I could not be more proud of what we pulled off.

Our team is taking a well-earned rest, and planning for what we have planned next.

Thank you to all of our partners, collaborators, and sponsors for making this incredible three-day delivery possible. None of this would happen without your trust and support.

Time for me to go back to sleep now! ✌🏼
