The blueprints to build vessels of escape are everywhere. These blueprints for ships that carry us to an otherwise, to other shores where the boundaries between self and world, between me and you become fluid, have always already been among us. They animate our desire for something better, for a way of being that isn’t based on isolation, hierarchies, and destruction. They respond to our need to traverse the sea in a longing to connect with love, to become love.

Join us at 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘩𝘪𝘱𝘺𝘢𝘳𝘥 to explore ideas and strategies on how to collectively struggle against modernity, against the separation imposed on us by the forces of subjugation. Rooted in Sufi spiritualities, Black Studies, decoloniality and feminist as well as Marxist thought and practice, Julia Wilhelm and Zouhair Hammana use the medium of blueprints to plot escape routes from the brutalities of modernity. As Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari say: ‘𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘮 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦.’

Mutual aid infrastructures make for sturdy vessels of care that allow us to experience our interdependence. From collective learning emerge flotillas of knowledge so we can recreate our worlds based on principles of collective responsibility and a profound understanding of the struggles of those who came before us. Plunging through the waters of uncertainty, the spherical qufa boat of spiritual practice gives itself over to the great will of the ocean to move us towards radical love for all beings, for being itself.

At 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘩𝘪𝘱𝘺𝘢𝘳𝘥, we are carried on a journey of setting sails for other shores where justice flourishes. Together, those of us who are driven by a longing to cross the ocean can study the blueprints that were passed on.

🎶 Introducing Esmail Bnaoe @esmail_bnaoe, completing the full line-up of artists at BAZAAR.

Born in Raqqa, Syria, Esmail is a musician whose journey has been shaped by resilience and a profound belief in music as a bridge between people and cultures.

After graduating from Codarts Academy in Rotterdam, where he specialized in Classical Ottoman and Anatolian folk traditions, Esmail pursued an Art Master focusing on the intersection of music, technology, and composition, with an emphasis on multimedia and multidisciplinary practices.

Apparently, I made it!

Today, I officially received my bachelor’s degree from Codarts, finally bringing this long and intense journey to a close. It’s been a ride full of challenges, growth, music, and memories I’ll carry with me for a lifetime. Much appreciation to love of my life Melika, my family for their support, and my dearest teachers, being there along the way.

The 2024 edition of the "Who's Right?" Festival was filled with connection, meaningful conversations, and most of all, activism. On this occasion, year after year, Midwest transforms into a special place where people from all backgrounds can share a moment, a story, or, in this case, a plate.

During this year's festival, our guests had the opportunity to talk to some incredible activists during the Activist Bar. And, between one conversation and the other, our guests also joined creative workshops hosted by @sabinewassenberg and @riso_pop. Others watched engaging performances by amazing artists such as @stichting.confro and Godfrey Lado.

The day ended with a community dinner prepared by the amazing team of @_turningtables , who brought everyone together through food, laughter, and games. And when @esmail_bnaoe took the stage, the entire room danced the evening away!

Thank you to everyone who came and made the festival so special, and thank you to all our amazing partners for making this edition possible!

We can’t wait to see you next year for even more! ✨️

DUTCH IN CAPTION

For over 14 months, we have witnessed mass destruction, killing, maiming and deliberate starvation at the hands of the Israeli military and its enablers. Being alive and safe at a time of genocide means we must orient our actions—no matter how small—towards liberation and resistance.

To raise funds for Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon, @mirthpop, @honingbeer_ and friends invite you to an evening of music, poetry, film, art and community in @acu.nl.

Mirthe X Honingbeer will present their EP, ‘Nobody’s Free Until Everybody’s Free’, with community-organized contributions such as @zehracecilia’s film ‘Burst Out’, shot in Beirut, photo prints by @dunyazita, an art market hosted by @uu.encampment and @xr.justicenow, spoken word by @eddie.azulay, live music by @esmail_bnaoe, @birgit_de_priester and @f3rdi.fm, and DJ sets by @zehracecilia b2b @hamza_al_haqiqi, @o__thys and @babyganoush.eu.

Entry is donation-based with a suggested donation of €5 - €15.

100% of the proceeds go to (1) helping rebuild a clinic in northern Gaza, (2) @havenforartists: a local art center helping displaced families in Lebanon, and (3) to visual artist @os.hussen and his family in Gaza.

Program:

‘Burst Out’ by Zehra Eekhout (film) / Sten (singer songwriter) / Esmail Bnaoe (live music ) / Eddie Azulay (spoken word) / Birgit de Priester (live music) / Mirthe van Popering X Honingbeer (spoken word + live music) / Zehra b2b Invasieve Exoot (DJ set) / O. Thys (DJ set) / Baby Ganoush (DJ set)
