I am extremely blessed to announce my verbal commitment to play at Bowie State University. First off I would like to thank God for the ability to play the sport I love at the next level. His timing is always perfect. A huge thank you to Coach Brock, Coach Megan, Coach Ladia, Ro, Coach John, Coach Roberto, Coach Josh, Coach Jordyn, Coach Darrah, Coach Keith, and my other coaches throughout the years. Thank you all for pushing me, supporting me, and reminding me of what I was capable of even during the moments when I doubted myself. A special thank you to my family for the sacrifices and support throughout this journey. Thank you to my mom for always being there for me, providing everything I need, and being my best friend. I love you and I couldn’t do it without you. Thank you to my Grandad for being my biggest cheerleader and never missing a game. Thank you to my Nana for always having faith and supporting my dreams. Thank you to Caddy for always being someone I can go to, whether it’s going to the field or the basement and encouraging me when I need it most. Thank you to my teammates for their encouragement, love, and support. I love you all so much.

Thank you to Coach Powell and the Bowie State Softball coaching staff for this opportunity. I cannot wait to represent Bowie State University and to compete and become part of the Bulldog family.

Congratulations @tylerj___20 on your commitment to @vmibaseco 🙌🏻

Tyler had a great winter all-around. He was previously upper 70s (76-78 T79)— and has now been consistently 81-83 indoors all winter

He has always had exceptional feel of the zone and a super tricky & deceptive slot/throw. We wanted to see an uptick in velo, add a second breaking ball to the mix, and improve the changeup

We have accomplished all 3 of these— by some movement pattern changes, pitch design work, and his effort in the weight room. He’s seeing the combo of cutter (to bridge the gap to sweeper) & changeup get great results in live ABs🔥 big spring ahead for TVD! Congratulations!

@mbrown_07 is now officially a 2-way🔥

Michael was typically 75-77 prior to this winter with command issues. He only focused on hitting which led to a struggle to throw strikes with heater & 12/6 cb (2 pitches)

His movement patterns were all over the place understandably, but he worked super diligently all winter on some big changes that I asked of him. He’s now up 7-8mph on average and throwing 3 pitches in the zone🤷‍♂️

Also threw in a 92.1 mph shuffle to top things off🧀 (previous max was 80!)

Michael has consistently been 82-84+ this winter and has been up to 84.6 (not pictured). Also added a smaller breaking ball to zone easily and bridge the gap between his heater and cb

Josh really needed to be more consistent with lower half movement patterns. We broke down the reason for inconsistencies in the past and how to fix it

We added a cutter to add a second breaking ball to pair with his ++ sweeper

-Up to 92+ indoors in multiple pens/lives (top 92.5 not in video)
-Avg heater well above 90 indoors
-2 elite breaking balls in-zone
-4 pitch mix

Awesome winter for @shota_fogus 📈

We sat down and set a plan to learn how to repeat his delivery, simplify his throw, add some velo (always) and add a new cutter to the mix to bridge the gap between his carry heater and sweeper

-91+ indoors in multiple pens/lives (almost 92)
-New cutter in-zone with whiffs in lives
-Simple throw thoughts

Going to be fun to watch him toe the rubber all spring & summer🔥

🚨 Player Spotlight: Tyler Caperton 🚨

Working with my guy Tyler Caperton 2028 Grad from Culpepper HS. Everything starts with the feet—they take you everywhere on the field. Today’s focus was activating them and staying through the baseball.

By dropping the ball instead of flipping it, we forced constant movement. With a small glove or a paddle, there’s no room for error—players have to stay in motion and work through the ball.

@josh.weppner has always had the pitchability, but needed to see a jump in stuff.

We sat down and set out a plan to do just that:

-Ton of heaters 88+ this winter
-87-89 in lives
-developed 2 distinct breaking balls
-throwing FB, CH, SL, CB in-zone

Josh was previously low-mid 8s (80-85) and was a very reliable arm to get outs. He has now seen a huge jump in stuff and is primed to have a breakout junior year🔥

Gavin and I sat down at the beginning of the fall with a clear roadmap of how to get his throw repeatable & velocity bumped. He trusted & had a great winter — the bullets speak for themselves🧈

🔹 TURNING TWO LIKE A PRO 🔹

✅ Hands first – Stay through the ball instead of funneling. A clean transfer leads to a quicker release.
✅ Follow your toss – Your feet should always work with your hands. Gain momentum and stay fluid.
✅ Footwork progression – Left foot in square, then work right of the ball for a strong throw. Stay low, pop the hip, and keep your weight moving through your target.
✅ Game-speed reps – We finished with fast-paced footwork and the triangle drill, attacking double plays from all angles—forehand, backhand, and straight on.

Elite infielders don’t just react—they anticipate, stay in rhythm, and execute. Keep stacking reps, and the game will slow down for you. 🔥
