It was a rainy evening in wintery Naarm when I put these songs together. I hear the rain through car tyres over wet asphalt and water running through drainpipes. I’ve been experiencing a bodily shift in postpartum, as my cycle returns and I am breastfeeding less often. With that transformation comes a new stage of matrescence and decisions about which form creativity should take. Here is an eclectic mix to share sounds from Eartheater, Pablo’s Eye, Phil Stroud & Friends – some of these songs speak to me in this matrescence, and there are a couple of my favourite “calming” pieces as my son describes them, plus a tribute to the artist Rice Wine, Talae Rodden who died earlier this month in a tragic accident. My thoughts are with his friends and family in this devastating time. Much love.

21.02.26: this was an elite week for new music on r00ts AU between heavy hitting music videos from Scan00 and Genesis Owusu (shoutout canberra (shoutout John Deer)) and one of the sweatiest bangers you will ever hear from Frooks x DoloRRes to the first taste of the Bayang x Kuya Neil tape “Phar Lap” which I am crazy keen for to some aus rap with fascinating electronic influence production like rhiino, metaphore, even sidney phillips although her new song isn’t even rap really and then xiao xiao finally follow up their first song and choc money and adnam drop a heartfelt collaboration their chemistry is unmatched as well as many other songs it was a good week for sure tbh last week’s music sucked in comparison it was a ‘weak week’ haha anyway tty u next week !!!! Edit last week didn't suck it was awesome idk why I said that every week is awesome
