Co-regulatory Skins

•

‘Co-regulatory Skins’ meets the dancing body as it pendulates on & off the dance floor: pendulating between movement and pause, between raised and resting heart rates. As we shift off the dance floor, my spatial devices intentionally soften our heart rate, experimenting with how space itself can become a co-regulatory body to widen our heart rate variability through parasympathetic activation. My work proposes a series of embodied spatial elements, including surfaces that help us rhythmically syncopate breath and walls that collectively activate deep pressure touch as a means to soften our heart rate. As such, acting to spatialise a practise of nurture: one which aids the body to pendulate from activation and return to parasympathetic homeostasis off the dance floor & beyond.

THE WELLNESS COMPLEX: ON PURITY AND SURFACE TENSIONS
The Design of the Self, Film Stills & Extract

A six-act theatrical work exploring contemporary wellness culture as a system of performance, surveillance and consumption. The narrative follows shifting infrastructures of care, from domestic rituals of self-maintenance to global networks of extraction and digital mediation, exposing how ideals of purity and optimisation are constructed and sustained.

•••

The Wellness Complex: On Purity and Surface Tensions examines how contemporary wellness culture manufactures images of purity and bodily discipline while obscuring the systems that sustain them. Adopting a dirty methodology, the project uses theatre to interrogate how the sanitised aesthetics of self-care mirror the cultural fear of dirt: of contamination and disorder. Developed as a six-act production titled The Design of the Self, the play connects rituals of care and surveillance to the labour, landscapes and waste that underpin them, exposing the entangled nature of wellness, capital and space.

READING ROOM

Exhibition Zine Launch and Artist Book Showcase

Sunday, 7th June, 11~3pm
130 Fenchurch Street
RSVP via link in bio

HARDCORE SOFTWARE presents a zine launch and reading room with selected panellists, as part of Hypha Weekender @hyphastudios.

The Reading Room is a collection of self-published works by the artists of Hardcore Software, showcasing independent projects developed beyond the collective's practice. It will also display the launch of the exhibition's zine, a catalogue of works and behind-the-scene processes that created them.

These works sit alongside submissions from an open call, inviting emerging artists to share their books, images, zines, and everything in between. Part archive, part library, part dumping ground, the Reading Room offers a glimpse into the wider network of practices, obsessions, and experiments that surround the collective.

Come along, bring a friend ♡
