🇿🇦 SOUTH AFRICA WIN SEVEN GOLDS AT AFRICAN CANOE SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIPS 🔥

Esti Olivier, Alexa Godden, Hamish Lovemore and Henry van der Walt have put seven gold medals on the board for South Africa at the 2026 African Canoe Sprint Championships at Keddara Dam in Algeria.

Olivier and Godden have three each, Lovemore buried the senior men's K1 1000 m field by more than nine seconds, and Van der Walt won the men's K1 200 m on his only start of the week.

Olivier closed her championships out this morning with the senior K1 200 m, on top of the K1 500 m and the K2 500 m she won with Godden. Godden, racing under-23, took the K1 500 m and the K1 200 m in her own age group.

🇨🇦WORLD CHAMPION x2! 🏆🥇🥇

The 2026 Sprint & Paracanoe World Championships in Poznań, Poland was an absolute dream come true!

I’m coming home a WORLD CHAMPION in both II Para K1 AND K2 Unified! 🥇🥇

While we battled ridiculous winds all week, I couldn’t be prouder of myself and my teammates for going out there, fighting through the conditions, and putting on a show!

Although I had an amazing time in Poland, being away from my team back home was definitely tough. My @banookcanoeclub team was also competing at the National Championships in Canada. Even though I was thousands of kilometres away, I was following the races online and cheering you on every chance I got! GO BANOOK GO! ❤️🤍

A huge thank you to the entire coaching team @canoekayakcan for welcoming us, supporting us, and making sure we had the boats and equipment we needed to go out there and do our jobs. Your support made a huge difference, and I’m incredibly grateful……as well a big shoutout to my coach olkevmcintyre for always believing in us and pushing us to be our best!

And a HUGE shoutout to all of my international friends who have supported me throughout this journey! It was amazing seeing so many familiar faces again, while also meeting new people and making new friendships along the way.
