[Fertile Soil]
Ember de Boer
@emberdeboer

“Inspired by the cycle, these works encourage an endless dialogue. Through every season, a ritual of one’s own creation, the flowers live, fade, dry and become renewed.

When I go about foraging the flowers, I am reminded that being intune with my surroundings is to acknowledge the cycle in everything. The changing the seasons, and the withering around me, everything changes. This is the way of life.

I see each one of these works as a collaboration. The vessel, and how one choses to place, change, and illuminate the arrangement is all an echoing dialogue, a dance with the experience of the art itself.”

Doug Winter
@doug_winter_studio

“Doug Winter is a photographic artist and filmmaker working with impaired vision. His practice explores the relationship between memory, sensory loss, personal truth, and the experience of grief. It asks how we hold onto what we can no longer clearly see—and how altered sight might reveal something deeper, more honest, and more human.

Rooted in personal experience—including his own partial vision following a stroke alongside his father’s sudden blindness. Winter uses the camera as a conceptual mechanism guided by disability. He dismantles and reconfigures lenses, alters sensors, and works with broken-down, outdated film, bypassing digital correction to create images that are optically unstable and emotionally charged. These distortions aren’t effects—they’re translations of how the world now appears through his eyes.”

Jada Simone Haynes
@blkvang0gh

“Jada Simone Haynes (they/m) is a Black non-binary archivist and multidisciplinary artist who is deeply engaged in exploring the nuanced aspects of Black queer existence, resistance, and resilience. In their creative practice, they are particularly drawn to abstracted images and the transformative potential of knotted and knit fibers to serve as conduit for the density of personal and collective grief, security, memory, and desire. These vessels and tapestries that weave fibers, verses, and vision create a constellation of experiences that delve into the textures of these themes and their futures.

Jada Simone Haynes was born in San Ramon, CA, and raised in Tracy, CA. They earned a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and a Bachelor of Arts in Design from the University of California, Davis. During their time at UC Davis, Haynes served as Lead Director of the Basement Gallery and completed an independent study under the mentorship of Azin Seraj and Darrin Martin.

Haynes currently resides and practices in the Bay Area, where they contribute to the field as a Collections Associate at the Letterform Archive. In this role, they merge their interests in art and memory, focusing on how archives can better preserve diverse bodies, objects, and experiences.”

Jose Di Gregorio
@josedigregorioart

“Jose Di Gregorio is a muralist and painter whose work features precise hand-drawn geometric patterns with iridescent sheens, vivid gradient colors, and celestial nightscapes. The results showcase an almost machine-like precision in line work. His symmetrical and asymmetrical patterns overlap to form structures that evoke the fleeting sensations associated with phenomena like palinopsia (tracers). In a more metaphysical sense, his work explores existential questions, diverting from the immediate physical state to deeper reflections on the nature of existence.

He has been painting extensively for over 25 years, with 15 years as a full-time artist. His paintings and murals have been featured in exhibitions and festivals both internationally and across the U.S., including Art Basel Miami, as well as shows in Canada, France, Finland, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Kosovo, Mexico, New York City, Oakland, Portland, San Francisco, and Sweden, among others.“

Ruben Reveles
@rurevel

“Creating is my meditation. Without it, other parts of my life would suffer. I find inspiration in patterns and forms in nature, walking around in the moment and being aware of my surroundings. My journeys to Mexico — being immersed in art and the unwavering spirit in the way they live their lives. The sound of my dreams, the energy that I see and the spiritual dimensions that I enter. And of course crows.

As a futurist artist, I see toward the future, live in the present, and smile toward the past. I’ve done my suffering, and now, no matter what happens, I know I can create anything I want.

Being a digital native, I began to transform my photos into something more dynamic. I saw my images as energy and altered them to reflect what I saw. Eventually, I started printing on alternative surfaces, honing my craft, feeling the earth’s energy, and evolving my art from there. Merging many works into immersive projections where the colors and sounds heal.“

“Invisible Doors”
Peter Vickland
@petervickland.author

Abstract:
This is an act of literary theft, a burglary taking place on the pages right in front of you.

Go ahead. Call the cops.

Found-word poetry is composition by elimination, removing all context from the chosen words in order to alter their meaning. For this piece, I used a novel that I ghostwrote in 2024, blacking out all the identifying features with layers of acrylic paint and drawing over the redacted text blocks with white gel ink. What remains readable, is an entirely new composition constructed of sold words written by me yet owned by the Publisher.

The story these pages now tell have nothing to do with the mystery for which they were originally written, but now a new mystery belongs to them. These words and the
simple drawings that accompany them represent a very real, albeit intangible, realm which we inhabit when we read or write fiction. The words on the page are merely the door into that other realm, a realm which defies the immutable laws of physics and linear time.

Through this door we invite the dead and the living to speak to us alike. Through this door we uncover the secrets that shape the future of science and technology. Through this door we escape when the profane (which is to say, the “real”) world is unbearable.

“Will Sleep Ever Come”
neon , wood, wire, found and acquired objects
Melissa Uroff
@melissauroff

Melissa Uroff is a California based artist and photographer. Her work comes from her deeper experiences of being a woman. She finds great joy working with color and light in her installations and photography.

As a photographer, she works in alternative, historical and experimental processes including cyanotypes, gum printing, polaroid transfers, hand coloring, and traditional darkroom techniques. She has a personal creative love affair with mixing mediums in both 2-D and 3-D work.

Her 3-D work consists of neon lights, and found objects which are often built into installations. Neon, traditionally, is a male dominated field. Melissa finds it intriguing to use the medium to provide a place for female-centered representation. Her work is influenced by those who have come before her, and her own personal stories.

“Exhaustion”
Bailey Anderson
@baileyjazzers

Bailey’s Anderson’s installations have reflected her relationship to loss, identity, and memory as well as her explorations into the histories of human beings and the grotesque. These relationships are communicated by the use of materials such as cement, hydrocal, fabric, and pigment to create bodily, layered blankets of decay. Blankets of seemingly bodily notions are cured over objects, giving form to the negative space underneath. The objects used act as a surrogate for the body and in turn the work becomes flexible and organic. She has always been intrigued by the idea of bodies engaging in behavior that is awkward and found that fleshy, vulnerable, and visceral forms and color give the awkward forms structure and fluidity. The color not just an attribute, it is part of the forms, integrated into them, like the skin on our very own bodies.

Reed studies: discovering what shapes the reed was craving.

Reed study no. 1 (looping) and no. 2 (bunching) will be part of the upcoming show @estreetgallery on artists responding to the environment.

Here’s another sweet piece for the upcoming @estreetgallery show.

Reed Study no. 4 (nest)
Flat reed, sisal fibers and deka dye

I believe I’ve sorted out a tricky connection point in a piece for next month’s @estreetgallery show.

Thank goodness!

The point of transition between technique and, in this case, material can be an incredible space for meditation on big ideas of transition and a reflection of transitional moments in life. But it can also be a jarring pull out of the conceptual vibe of the piece.

Fiber art is like that. The materials are rich in meaning inherited from a long history of traditional use, so breaking out of those traditional molds is a balance between the unexpected moment of clarity and the jarring dissonance of something that just doesn’t feel right.

*wipes brow*

Now for the hardest part: finishing.
