Compact Perspective // The Inward Cave // Manic Peak

Ocellus are false eyes formed on the vulnerable backs and wings of a menagerie of prey species as a potent predator deterrent. Ocellus can be appreciated as a from survival adaptation imprinted on a genetic lineage by the instinctual threat cast by a sharp gaze in the dark. If the symbolism of eyes can manifest woven into the back of a moth, then it is only nature to find it stitched into the base of human cognition.

The sensation of being watched by a painting; that moment of recognition when your gaze darts to a stranger’s fleeting stare; the uncanny slip into madness when pupils fraternize with their mirror image for a little too long; the debasing sludge of an entity unjustly conforming you into a blank slate to project unto you their internal landscape. Step outside and you will be perceived.

APRIL - a quilted jacket that ended up giving Regal Marie Biscuit vibes lol

found this quilted bed runner (?) at an estate sale and thought about a lil jacket of some sort. April was a busy month so I only had the time to make something simple. I don’t love this one but I don’t hate it,,, I’m just glad another piece of fabric laying in my house has been turned into something :3
