Moments from the cathedral!! Air conditioning, fast food, shaking ass, full beats, full hearts. Au revoir, Notre Dame!

The Hunchback of Notre Dame. We took a huge swing on a conceptual version… from the start I knew I wanted it to be “not your grandmother’s Hunchback.” The expanded orchestra on stage and an incredible ensemble of players all telling this magnificent musical masterpiece in a way that was both simplified and yet maximalist in many ways too. How can a 21-piece orchestra and 30-person choir not be MAX!? But yet we laser focused on making the intimate moments so intimate and so human. And all of us as “players” shapeshifting into delivering this tale to the audience. There’s no better process than one where everyone is so deeply invested in truthful storytelling, and we truly had the best cast. What’s even more lucky and magical is that it was a cast of kind, caring, funny, hard working people, every single one of them… because when you can trust each other AND make fun of each other AND discover together AND work toward a common goal, anything is possible, and that’s how beautiful art is made. I’ve never been so proud of a show in my life. 💜🔔✨
