For the Love of Our Methow Valley, we put together this beautiful film sponsored by the North Cascades Conservation Council. We believe in compelling inclusive solutions for fire safety while respecting the ecological sensitivity of our forests. Our hope is to motivate you to get involved in stopping a proposed project that is in the process of changing the natural character of Our Backyards. Don’t worry peeps, its not only about the trees, our flick has some radical action within, and you might even recognize yourself river running or dancing a jig!

It is time to pay attention my friends, and remember why many of us live here in the first place. I just had a friend from down south tell me their community is up in arms as Forest Service projects impacted their natural landscapes, outdoor recreation and their connection with nature driving some to “sell the farm.”

Now is the time to make your voices heard! We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to shape the health of our forests for generations to come. The local Ranger District wants to reduce wildfire risk using old school profit-driven logging practices. What we need is innovative and holistic science-based ecological solutions that uphold nature as the bottom line. The 53,000 acre Twisp River Midnight “restoration” project / timber sale open for public comment until May 16. These projects are being fast tracked with very little public process and the quality of life in our precious valley is at stake.

Fortunately, the @methowcitizens has made a comment guide to follow, because unless you’ve been abreast of the project, have a forestry degree, it is nearly impossible to understand what the Forest Service has planned. Link In Bio

First, and foremost, please enjoy the heck out of our movie as we made it for all of you.
Remember, if it puts a smile on your face, or even makes you shed a tear, don’t hesitate to let us know with a kaw kaw comment, like, and share. The algorithm loves positive clicks, and as Don from K-Root always says, and we concur 110 %, We are all in it together!

#spraydaywithnate EVENT - 2nd Edition

When educators come together with the eager and engaged beautiful things happen. It’s been an amazing experience helping painters/finishers elevate their craft and get their hands on products and equipment. Building up this community of positive and supportive people is what #spraydaywithnate is all about.
Thank you to all the attendees who have come out this year and for stepping out of your comfort zone and being part of something special.

A special thank you to both @philip_the_vocational_artist and @justa_painter86 for being a huge part it what makes these events run so smoothly

I want to thank y’all for an incredible turnout at our August 17 meeting hosted by North Cascades Conservation Council to discuss a valley vision for an ecologically sound, fire safe community.
- It is clear our valley, and those who love it are concerned with how the Forest Service’s logging projects are going to impact our home ecosystem, our wildfire preparedness, and our lifestyle.
-Unfortunately, our local Forest Service office didn’t see fit to send anyone to the meeting. We do appreciate the retired FS folks who voiced their expertise, as well as our community members for sharing their local wisdom.
I was honored to be a part of a four member panel, where we each shared from our area of knowledge.

Bird -Home isn’t just my property, it’s the land; the forests, the streams, the mountains.  We need to protect our outdoor rec resource from projects that turn our public forests into industrial logging zones.

Dominick DellaSala - President and Chief Scientist of the Geos Institute and President of the Society for Conservation Biology. His studies reveal that all the FS logging projects aren’t doing anything to protect us from fire in the age of climate change.  Home hardening and creating defensible space will better protect us.

Liam Sherlock - The lead attorney N3C lawsuit challenging the Twisp logging project.  He shared his deep knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act and why it has been violated with its exclusion of the local public, and lack of a credible analysis of environmental impacts of the Twisp project.

Ric Bailey - A seasoned forest protection wilderness advocate and former logger, presented why the logging projects planned in the Methow are not based on realistic depictions of forest conditions
The current FS forest plan involves:
Allowing the logging contractor to select the trees to be cut via a process called “Designation by Prescription.”
The Model needs to change. ✅
Instead, we need to be utilizing a 3rd party to mark the leave trees and ecological restoration sawerys to cut and deck the logs for timber companies to come bid on.
This will separate profit from the intended ecological restoration.
