We’re proud of all the athletes who went there on the weekend to test their skills and better themselves and their Jiu-Jitsu, it’s awesome to see many students interested in the competition scene and having fun with the team on the weekend!
Lessons we learn and good memories we take from every competition are the best reward we can have from this experience.
Well done team!”

Last night we had a new guy at the gym — rugby player, big unit, and I’m pretty sure pretty new to jiu-jitsu. 😂🏉🥋

I watched him roll with Coach Ethan… and to be fair, the big fella was giving Ethan a few problems with that rugby strength and chaos.

Then the roll finishes and Ethan looks over at me…

“Jay, you go with him.”

EXCUSE ME? 😂

I just watched a giant rugby player make a black belt work, and now suddenly I’m next?

That wasn’t matchmaking. That was a setup. 🤣

I’m still trying to work out what I did to Ethan earlier in the week to deserve that.

SUBWAVE | NOVEMBER 1ST, 2025 🔥

This was the first local Jiu-Jitsu competition we attended where a OneP athlete was competing and what an introduction to the local comp scene!

We were a little privileged that night, getting the chance to sit matside in Ethan’s corner thanks Bob! 🙏🙌

Definitely a cool memory from our early days following the local BJJ scene. 🔥🏆🥋

@mrs_white6 asked Professora Tegan whether athletes can actually hear their coach while they’re competing.

The answer? Yes… and no.

With the adrenaline pumping and all the distractions around them, competitors often tune out almost everything. But some voices still cut through the noise.

And then there’s Professor Bob… somehow you can hear him from outside the stadium! 😂📣

Respect is measured by how you carry yourself win or lose.

Last night, Ethan Enoch came up just short, losing by a narrow two-point margin. The scoreboard didn’t fall his way, but anyone who watched the match knows they witnessed a high-level battle from start to finish.

Ethan represented One Purpose BJJ, his teammates, and his First Nations heritage with the same qualities that have always defined him: humility, courage, respect, and heart. No trash talk. No excuses. No shortcuts. Just a martial artist willing to test himself against the best.

Results come and go, but character endures. We’re proud of the way Ethan carried himself before, during, and after the match. That’s what representing your academy, your culture, and your family is all about.

Keep your head high, Ethan. This is just another chapter in a journey that’s far from finished. The mats always reward those who keep showing up.

💙 Proud to stand behind you.
💚 Proud to call you a teammate.
🖤 Proud of the example you set.

ENOCH v ELCHEIKH. (Tonight)
77KG BJJ BOUT
FRIDAY, 10 JULY 2026 SOPO, SOUTHPORT QLD

Some athletes build a reputation with words. Ethan Enoch built his on the mats.
No trash talk. No excuses. No shortcuts. Just relentless training, technical precision, and the confidence to let his jiu-jitsu speak for itself.
A black belt under Roberto “Bob” Dib Frias at One Purpose BJJ, Ethan is more than an elite competitor. He’s a student of the game, a respected coach, and a mentor who leads by example. Calm under pressure, respectful to every opponent, and always willing to test himself against the best.
In a sport where egos can be loud, Ethan proves that true confidence doesn’t need a microphone it earns respect through action.
That’s the kind of martial artist people remember.

Just a friendly reminder of how knowledge gets passed down in jiu-jitsu… 😂

1. Craig Jones taught Bob Frias that octopus sweeps actually work.
2. Tito reminded Bob that body slams are legal in ADCC (it’s literally in the rules).
3. Bob then made sure Ethan knew that body slams are legal in ADCC… because, once again, it’s literally in the rules. 🤝😂

The circle of life… ADCC edition. 📚💥

Sometimes heart outweighs everything else. After landing awkwardly on his head from a judo throw at the 2024 ADCC Asia & Oceania Trials in Thailand, Ethan looked dazed—but somehow dug deep, stayed in the fight, and found the submission. Toughness, composure, and pure grit. Oss! 🔥👊
