Happy Hat Day! 🎩 It’s October and after a summer slumber, we are back — and so is fall theater season. Buckle up, we have some stories for you. Yes, YOU. Actors, producers, writers, directors, publicists, stage managers, box office saints, dramaturgs, audience members, and more.

@teemantim hit the phones to talk to @lynnnottage, Oskar Eustis, @stevepasquale, @laurazlatos, @djgiles47, @heidischreck, @annewashburn and many more about the role of political theater today.

What is the power of art and what is the power of storytelling?

The great @divaraven chronicles a bygone era of the East Village aughts and talks to @joeyariasnyc and @basiltwist3 about putting on their “couture gown of a show” again.

And they’re not! @ariaswithatwistnyc was just extended to December.

@emmarosawent and @obarresi55 have spent 10+ years working on 40 projects, including lots and lots of Shakespeare. They dive into their creative inspirations and bucket lists.

🐻❤️

@ethanevakaras goes into the mind of dramaturg @sarahlunnie, who worked on not one, two, three, but FOUR plays this and next season by @ryanjhaddad @eliyasmith @a_modern_classic @themadonesarchive.

Don’t miss the miracle.

Lots to read and even more to see. Btw we have exclusive Hat hats avail for close readers. Get in our DMs to get one. 🎩

Consider our rehearsal cherry popped 😩

The ridiculously beautiful (and beautifully ridiculous) company of QUEENEY TODD: The Demon Bottom of Fleet Street gathered for their first rehearsal today, and girl, a time was had. This team, this script, these talents… we were GAGGED, and we were GIGGLING. And it’s all coming together (lol) in the next 2 1/2 weeks!

THAT’S RIGHT! PERFORMANCES BEGIN OCTOBER 22! SO SOON! GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!

Journeyed to Little Pond Arts Retreat with Fresh Ground Pepper and left with:
-new friends with the most amazing minds 🤩
-an updated and perhaps complete (time will tell 😈) version of The Roadkill Committee Tabletop Roleplaying Game
-a new hobby in fire sculpting 🔥
-so much love for Little Pond, FGP, and my fellow artists! 🌳

This place is truly sacred, imbued with the positive energy and well wishes of artists past and present. What a gift you all are 🫶

To the delights of the Week 3 @fgpnyc cohort! You all gave me new juice to continue my project, and I’m SO grateful for you all diving in. @fgpnyc has created an extraordinary retreat for artists that celebrates community, creativity, and stewardship of land, ourselves and each other. Follow these artists and see their work! (Including @timesnewrita whose music accompanies this reel.)
