It was nothing like a regular trek — every turn brought a new challenge and something fascinating to discover!

About the 2nd Mawmluh Nature Festival
The 2nd Mawmluh Nature Festival will take place from 4–10 October 2026 in Mawmluh, following the success of the first community-led festival in 2025 organized by Mawmluh Tourism and Allied Activities Society and Titli Trust. The festival combines nature trails, caving, local culture, cuisine, folklore, and visits to places like Nongriat, Tyrna, and Shella, all guided by trained local youth known as the Mawmluh Nature Guides. Biodiversity surveys in the region have documented over 100 butterfly species, 250 moth species, 100 bird species, and many rare reptiles and amphibians, including the Calotes zolaiking, making Mawmluh an important ecological hotspot. The festival is also part of a broader conservation and sustainable livelihood initiative led by Titli Trust with support from Royal Enfield Social Mission over the past three years.

Mawmluh Cave, Meghalaya is a true geological and natural marvel.

A stalagmite from this cave helped define the "Meghalayan Age", marking a major global climate event from around 4,200 years ago — making it scientifically significant worldwide, as the Earth's Age that we live in currently.

Inside, the beauty is raw and untouched — stunning stalactites and stalagmites, limestone pillars, delicate cave straws, and the rare white “moonmilk” formations glowing under headlamps.

An offbeat expedition, journey is demanding, with hours of hiking, climbing, deep descents, narrow crawls, slippery rocks, and complete darkness — challenging, but absolutely worth the experience.
