The future of energy is being revolutionised by energy communities like Ecopower and Som Energia, who share energy inputs for a more climate friendly model of living. Jeremy Cox has just returned from Europe, studying these communities and others like them. He joins us at 113 to share his insights, theory that gives them context, and make the case for local institutions that generate the knowledge, trust and shared norms that markets and governments alone cannot. October 1 @goetheinstitut_newyork @eunicnyc : European Day of Languages: Strengthening Multilingual Education in New York Every year around September 26th, European Day of Languages celebrates linguistic diversity across Europe and the world. This year, EUNIC New York is bringing together European cultural institutes, the NYC and NYS Departments of Education, school leaders, language advocacy organizations, and certification bodies for a half-day convening on the future of multilingual education in New York. Through a policy framing conversation, expert panels, and informal networking over a European Smorgasbord, we will explore what it takes to support multilingual learners, recognize language skills, and build pathways for New York students from the classroom to college, careers, and civic life. This event is designed for a targeted audience of educators, school leaders, policymakers, and language advocates. In-person spots are limited and attendance is by invitation. If you are interested in joining us and have not yet received an invitation, please reach out to us at teacherservice-newyork@goethe.de and we will do our best to accommodate you.

What is EUNIC and why does it matter for cultural cooperation in Europe? EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) is a global network @eunicglobal bringing together European cultural institutes and organisations to foster international cultural relations. Rather than working separately, members join forces through local clusters that develop and implement collaborative cultural projects reflecting Europe's cultural diversity and shared values. The Lithuanian Culture Institute @lithuanian_culture_institute is represented in the EUNIC Brussels Cluster @eunic.brussels by Adelė Dovydavičiūtė @adeledov Lithuanian Cultural Attaché in Belgium. Together with colleagues from across Europe, we contribute to a wide range of joint initiatives that connect artists, audiences and cultural organisations across borders. Among the projects Lithuania is currently involved in are Transpoesie @transpoesie, The Future of Living Festival @the_future_of_living and the EUNIC Brussels Film Festival @eunic.filmfestival – all examples of how cultural collaboration can create new opportunities for dialogue, exchange and artistic visibility. This month's EUNIC Brussels meeting took place at De Krook Library in Ghent @bibliotheekdekrook, bringing together representatives of European cultural institutions to exchange ideas, discuss ongoing projects and explore future collaborations. Culture becomes stronger when we create it together. 🇪🇺🇱🇹 The programme also offered an opportunity to discover two remarkable examples of contemporary architecture and adaptive reuse in Ghent: De Krook Library, designed by RCR Arquitectes @rcrarquitectes and Coussée & Goris Architecten @cousseegorishuyghe_architecten, and the recently reopened Wintercircus @wintercircusghent, transformed by BARO Architectuur, SUMProject, Atelier Kempe Thill @atelierkempethill, aNNo Architecten @annoarchitecten and @oyoarchitects. #EUNIC #EUNICBrussels #LithuanianCultureInstitute #LithuanianCultureInBelgium #CulturalDiplomacy
