I was fortunate to travel to Europe with my family and visit the, Institute Giacometti, in Paris. It was one of the highlights of my art viewing life.

The recreated studio, sculpture, paintings and furnishings he created throughout his life that are on display are extensive. I have never seen his furnishings in person and was enamored with their elegance. While quoting his eye are completely different than all the other work I have looked at through the years.

Everyone was completely taken by the experience of being in the presence of this place. Thank you to my daughter Elena who excitedly guided us to this magical place during quite a heatwave ❤️

BETWEEN THE FRAMES
-
In January of this year I wrapped on shooting Between The Frames as the Director of Photography. This was my first UCSB 106 production class and was a wonderful experience working with an incredible crew to shoot the wonderful story Kammy wrote and directed. I learnt great amounts about lighting night exteriors, and have taken some big lessons from this shoot.
-
After a month of post-production it was screened at the Pollock theatre amongst the other 106 films. Seeing my work on the big screen was wonderful and further accentuated my learnings of lighting and composition.

Big thanks to everyone that made this happen, the best cam team OAT, G&E locked in on a different level, PD went crazy on this one, sound dealt with me crunching on the gravel, and the directing team who made it all happen.

Shooting on the Pyxis 6k open gate combined with the Blazar Mantis 1.33x provided me with an incredibly large effective sensor size after desqueezing. It also brought me to a 2:1 aspect ratio which I absolutely love and is one of my preferred aspect ratios. It was also great to work with the Pyxis in low light and really test its abilities, as I wanted to shoot at a T/2.8-4.

The ones who make support me the most (and who I try to please)

The first day of shooting was inside a soundstage and inside the Photo Booth that was specially made just for this film. Not only did this keep us out of the cold long night, it also allowed me to have much more flexibility in framing decisions and lighting, as we had power and control over everything. I always had to keep in mind continuity for the exterior scenes and how they would both stitch together in the final edit. This is where having a dedicated DIT on set Marcus was incredible, as not only could he apply my grading LUT, he could suggest changes and string together dailies whilst sat right there. This helped us greatly in a few instances that needed his insight as editor.

Shooting this bench scene was a good lesson for me in lighting night exteriors and using moonlight in particular, Nico Cauton did an incredible job but there are definitely some things I would change for next time! These scenes were lon

Happy to announce that my film, Driftaway, had its premiere at the Reel Loud Film Festival on Friday, May 29th! 🌟 It was such an honor to finally share a silent, 7-minute cut of this story as directing a film for Reel Loud has been a dream of mine ever since my freshman year! This event has been a big inspiration for me on my journey into filmmaking and I can’t imagine dedicating my time to anything else!

Thank you @reelloudfilmfestival and the wonderful committee who hosted the event of the year! ♥️ And thank you @simplesyrupiv for playing such a beautiful performance during my film! 🎶 But most of all, thank you to all my friends, family, crew, and everyone who tuned in to watch and came out to support! 💐 @driftawayfilm

We’re making a movie (a short one)

We’re a group of filmmakers in our twenties attempting to make a short film at the level of Hollywood productions – and we need your help to make it happen. To cover costs for gear, locations, crew travel costs and much more, we need another 5 thousand in the next few weeks leading up to our next shoot. We could not be more confident in our amazing cast and crew and are eternally grateful to everyone who has donated already🙏🎬

Charlie Buckets follows an ex-conman who has one night to scavenge 50,000 across the nightlife of Los Angeles. It is written by Director Carlo DiFiore and Lead Actor Travers Tobis.
