Travel Series: Montreal 🇨🇦

It’s time for me to finally talk about how incredible second hand shopping is in Montreal. I wasn’t expecting Montreal to have such incredible thrift and vintage but man this city could be a second hand fashion capital.

Vintage stores were abundant, incredibly well curated, extremely diverse in their product offerings, and each had their own unique taste. One of the most interesting stores I walked into was a thrift store called Eva B, which had a thrift section, a higher end section, and a food and beverage cafe counter, with spots to sit and hangout all around the store! I’ve found that stores that have accessible points of sale in multiple different offerings can really grab a customer.

What I find so beautiful about second hand shopping is the novelty of the items you can find, mixed with the community of people in these stores. Montreal thrift shoppers were incredibly cool and every employee I talked to recommended another store to check out around the block! Businesses helping other businesses grow and succeed, ugh the dream.

Overall, I’ve gained the impression that secondhand shopping and community building is heavily intertwined within each other. Whether it’s a community of creatives curating a store, establishing a third space for community gathering, a celebration of individual style, or the shared understanding that secondhand shopping is bettering the planet, community is at the forefront of all successful second hand business models. I’m reminded again that this is what the future of the fashion industry looks like, and it’s a beautiful thing to be a part of. I’d love to see more curation + community shops exist in other places around the world.

Definitely add Montreal to your bucket list if you love to thrift!!
