✨ Idle Jack ✨
After 11 years of Amateur Panto and many years trying to get my foot into the door of the industry, I finally decided to audition for professional Panto. With the help of a GoFundMe and the kindness and generosity of my friends, I was able to afford to perform in Skegness this Christmas at The Embassy Theatre.
I was lucky enough to be working with some of the most talented, funny, incredible people, and a crew who were all so remarkable in looking after me. I was scared at first, feeling a little like a fish out of water, but everyone was so pivotal in making me feel welcome and reassuring me. I’ve made some incredible friends, we played games, got Chinese, watched Wagatha Christie, sang karaoke, and at some point I owe all of them an embroidered stocking. The shows, as Panto should be, were chaotic, hilarious, and a huge success!!! (Though, the smell of buckets of Shaving Foam still follows me back in Sheffield!) it was also lovely to incorporate Makaton into Jack’s character, making theatre just that little bit more accessible.
It’s a shame to say goodbye to Panto land, but I can only hope I’ll be panto-ing it up again next year! 🥳
So for now, Mind your own business.
Signed, Neil.
