[Open Your Minds with Air67] 1/3⚡️ ⚡️ ⚡️
by art director @evancychen
⚡️ ⚡️ ⚡️
The initial intent for Air67 was as simple as an imaginary flight that connected different individuals and cultures with LOCK CHUCK - a medium for communication and cultural exchange.
⚡️ ⚡️ ⚡️
Then the world seemed to have stopped spinning when the pandemic hit. We were asked to stay home and outdoor activities were suspended. Despite that, we were still fortunate enough to be able to connect via the Internet and work online. Communication was not disrupted the way the physical portals were. Cultural exchange is still on-going despite physical portals being suspended.
⚡️ ⚡️ ⚡️
We sat and pondered: Air67 can represent something beyond the literal - it can also represent the concept of a portal as an abstract form without being bound to any physical constraints. We seeked infinite possibilities through the dimensions of time and space - from visuals, videos and art installations. We portrayed Air 67 as a portal that can extend its reaches to the unknown, and therefore “re-explore the infinite journey”.
⚡️ ⚡️ ⚡️
Our memory intertwines with senses, objects, and so much more; familiar scents trigger memories of our childhoods; belongings remind you of someone you deeply care about; and moments inspire your vision for the future. These are all portals that connect you to the past, the present, and the future.
⚡️ ⚡️ ⚡️
Therefore, we want Air67 to be a glimmer of hope that people can travel to wherever their hearts guide them to.

【Where Does Your Next Journey Begin?】3/3

Our talented barista, @ziqianyan - who is also a self-taught installation artist - was inspired by the project and designed installations to evoke the spectators to go through the various portals.
⚡️ ⚡️ ⚡️
Alongside our main exhibition presented at LOCK CHUCK, our neighbour, DaySIP, offered their space to be turned into an installation kiosk to showcase the participating brands’ installations. You can find their schedules below.

【Where Does Your Next Journey Begin?】1/3
⚡️ ⚡️ ⚡️
The idea of Air67 has previously been updated several times.
⚡️ ⚡️ ⚡️
In the very beginning, we were inspired by Yum. Years ago, Yum worked at LOCK CHUCK for half a year before he landed a job at an airline. Through sweat and tears, he persevered through the demands of the job trainings and eventually fulfilled his dream - that is to fly high amongst the clouds.
⚡️ ⚡️ ⚡️
However, our world was turned upside-down when the pandemic shook the world. We were back at square one - with no indication when normality would return. Airlines used to be regular portals which we have benefitted from. However, when most of the international flights were suspended, we knew that we had to create a new portal - one that can transport people anywhere their heart guides them to. With this concept in mind, Evan later finalized the design to enhance the concept of this portal.

Air67 is an exhibition created by RE studio and Lock Chuck. Aspire to exploring the infinity, the project transform feelings into an imaginary airline, to pay tribute to the obsession of flying. It features with installations and merchandises.
