These last 2 weeks reminded me that leadership isn’t defined by where you’re from. It’s shaped by the people you’re willing to learn from.

Over the last 2 weeks, I traded Texas highways for the streets of Washington, D.C., conference sessions for meaningful conversations, and familiar faces for new friends who share the same passion for agriculture and serving others.

Whether I was learning alongside members, district, area, and state officers at ALC or representing Texas with the Texas Farm Bureau, I was reminded that the best part of any opportunity is the people you get to experience it with. Every mile traveled reinforced how fortunate I am to be part of an industry built on relationships.

Turns out, some of the best things in life start with a simple yes.

One year ago, I was told to “Remember Your Why.” Though I’ve tried to narrow this down to one thing that keeps me going, I think I’ve finally discovered that it will never be just ONE thing.

Jo, Steven, Wesley, Van, Casey, Hollie, and Madison: This has been the absolute best year growing close and becoming like family. Half of me is sad that we are retired, but the other half knows we will never be strangers.

The new Area IX team: There is a comfort in knowing that each of you will do an amazing job, and your team is bound to be successful. I am proud of you and can’t wait to work together this year.

My Parents, Mrs. Powers, and Huntington: My day ones. My biggest cheerleaders and supporters. I wouldn’t be here without y’all, and I am so glad that we got to share these moments.

To Riley: For two years now you’ve announced my name from the podium, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you for always being there for our team, and I hope to make you proud this year.

Area IX: You never cease to amaze me. It is clear my job is not done and I thank each of you and the Lord above for the opportunity to serve as a State Officer. I hope to leave an impact for Area IX and Texas FFA.

And that’s my why.

Thankful is truly an understatement.

My time in the FFA has been nothing short of a wild ride, but every moment has been worth it. Through every opportunity, challenge, and experience, I’ve learned that life becomes what you choose to make of it, so chase every dream, take every chance, and make the most of the time God gives you.

To the Area IX Association, thank y’all for giving me the opportunity to serve this next year. It is an honor that I will never take for granted. I pray that God continues to guide not only me, but our entire area association, in the direction He has planned for us. I promise to give this role everything I have. And always remember that their truly is not party like an AIX party because an AIX party don’t stop.

To my new team, I already know this year is going to be unforgettable. I cannot wait to serve the best area in Texas alongside each and every one of you. Here’s to a year filled with growth, memories, and experiences we’ll carry with us forever.

Your 2026-2027 Area IX President signing in.
