Just over a week ago we closed the doors to the BLHW residency. I’ve reflected a lot on this experience and though it was extremely hard, it was equally rewarding.

This residency was a reflection of years of work. Throughout my career, I have often taken on more than I thought I could withstand, and opening a residency pop-up store in just two months was no exception. It was a culmination of ideas, concepts, collaborations, and the kind of discipline and problem-solving that comes with building something from the ground up. It was a lot to tackle: opening a store, designing every square inch, and carrying the full creative vision without a design team or outside artistic direction. I designed every detail, from the packaging, website, and photography to the press release, campaigns, holiday moments, music, and even the lighting. It became an immersive experience for me to showcase my work across multiple areas and bring the BLHW world to life in a way that felt complete.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to do things I never imagined I would do: work with my idols, learn difficult lessons, and continue evolving creatively. At the same time, I have grown into someone who understands not only how to create, but how to build, lead, and sustain a vision. This experience reminded me that BLHW is not only a creative expression, but something I have shaped and fought for as both a creative and a businessperson.

I have always worked to be different, to think for myself creatively rather than follow trends. I’ve always wanted to stand out based on one thing: my work. I’ve always wanted to be in my own lane, and with that comes many obstacles.

I could not have done this without the help of so many people. I am incredibly grateful to @lapeerhotel for hosting my vision and being a great partner. Thank you to my amazing small but powerful team who helped me bring it all to life. Thank you to @ircagroup_americas for being an amazing sponsor in all things chocolate.
