POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Tonight, we’re screening Sergio Martino’s 1973 proto-slasher, "Torso" at @burningbridgebrew in San Dimas.

I’ve always been completely fascinated by giallo films and Italian horror, which is exactly why I dedicated an entire week of 'I Remember Halloween III' to them.

"Torso" is one of my favorite movies, but beyond being a highly stylized, claustrophobic thriller, it’s also the direct precursor to the American slasher boom.

When I learned that this film was shown as a double feature with "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" (1974), it felt like something in my brain clicked.

Without the Italian gialli, the American slasher boom simply wouldn't exist.

I just dropped the latest @cinemabierite article exploring exactly how Italian filmmakers like Martino, Mario Bava, Dario Argento, and Lucio Fulci paved the bloody highway for directors like Wes Craven and John Carpenter.

Thanks to everyone who came out last Wednesday and made our kickoff such a great time! Many a hot dog-flavored water seltzer was consumed, Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead played, and we got to kick off Halloween month together.

Big thanks to Ruben and the crew at @burningbridgebrew for hosting us! Your Wednesdays are now more interesting.

Missed the first one? Come hang this Weds (10/7). Four Giallo films are up for a vote. You pick which one hits the screen. We’re also releasing Gabbaghoul, our Italian pilsner collaboration with Burning Bridge.

Come party with us every Wednesday in October. Link in bio.

Two VHS tapes. Two movies I’ve never seen. You pick what goes in the VCR next: "Death Machine" (1994) or "Cocktail" (1988). Whatever y'all choose. I'm going to write about on the Cinéma Bierité Substack (link in bio).

Vote in the poll, then tell me why your pick deserves my evening in the comments. I’ll watch the winner and report back! 🫡📼🤘🏽

"Cregger's Resident Evil adaptation brought back childhood memories of watching films like Escape from L.A. (1996) or Speed (1994) in theaters, where I was locked in on the edge of my seat. It was electric. There was no better feeling in the world, and in many ways it's the high I’ve been chasing ever since.

Thanks to this film, I got a tiny hit again."

Our review of Zach Cregger's latest installment of the "Resident Evil" is live. LINK IN BIO.

Look, we all know the rule: the second you cross into the tree line with a cooler full of cheap beer and zero cellular reception, someone is going to die horribly.

To kick off our 2026 series, at @burningbridgebrew, we’re heading deep into the tree with four distinct flavors of cabin fever, paranoia, and wilderness survival.

We'll also be pouring a special hot dog flavored seltzer called, fittingly, "Hot Dog Flavored Water" for all the fellow nü metal/horror fans! Dont knock it til you try it! 🌭🍻

RSVP and vote for the film you want to see! Link in bio! 🎃🔪🤘🏽🍻🎞

PLEASE NOTE: Only paid attendee votes will count toward the film shown that evening. You can still vote for fun on our socials, obvi! We'll crown a People's Choice!

So, which is the best forest horror film, tell us in the comments, cuz i screwed up the poll! 🥴👇🏽
