A lot of couples SAY they are obsessed with candids (for good reason)…photos that show you completely in the moment having the BEST time of your life on your wedding day.

But with Instagram trends and Pinterest boards, it’s easy to find yourself feeling pressured to recreate what other people are doing, which can completely take you out of your wedding experience.

🪩 The couples who end up with the BEST candids in their galleries do THIS differently:

✨ Ditch the shot list, communicate your VISION

Photographers have seen all the trends, and giving yours a shot for shot list is the opposite of candid. Communicate the feeling you want to capture, what you’re looking forward to and hire a photographer who listens to what’s important to you. Then, trust the professional you hired to capture it beautifully.

💖 Hire a vendor team that takes care of everything, so YOU can be in the moment instead of problem solving at your wedding.

It’s hard to get candid photos of you on the dance floor if you’re in the other room figuring out when the late night food is getting delivered. Putting it in your vendor’s hands allows you to actually enjoy your day, rather than dealing with logistics and missing out on your favorite song.

💃🏻 Delegate everything and let LOOSE!

This is for my Type A couples (I know you because I was you!!)…this day is supposed to be FUN, and they’re not lying when they say it goes by so quickly. Know that leading up to wedding day, you’ve done everything you need to do. Your only job now is to be present and LET LOOSE!

As a former teacher, I’m organized AF so you don’t have to worry about missing a single moment. My couples love that I always get them to cocktail hour AND capture iconic dance floor photos that live on forever in the group chat.

Being apart from your pet the ENTIRE day of your wedding can be a struggle for most pet owners!

You might be wondering if…or how…you can incorporate your fur babies into your wedding, so here are a few ideas from my past couples you can try:

🐶 Have your pet there during getting ready
😻 Include your pet in a few wedding party portraits
🐰 Make your pet the ring bearers
🍹 Create custom cocktails named after your pets with a cute sign
🦔 Big cardboard cutouts with your pets’ faces on them
🐷 Cocktail napkins or drink stirrers
🦴 Party favors (pet treats) from your pet to your guests’ pets

🔥🔥🔥 And one WILD crazy idea that I have not seen yet…invite everyone to bring their pet to your wedding!!!

If you plan to bring your pet to be part of the wedding festivities, always prioritize their well-being and consider how they handle new places/people, assign someone to take care of walking, feeding, and hydrating them, and of course double check with your venue if necessary.

Having your pet there can be a lovely addition to your day, can be very calming for you, and gives you the chance to make everyone compliment your pet and take even more cute pictures of them.

Can I pet your dog (or cat, rabbit, mini donkey, horse) at your wedding??? Inquire through my website for 2026 or 2027 availability!
