Discovering a culture through its cuisine is also a way to explore its history and traditions. šŸ‡µšŸ‡

With Chef Gene from @laboitebento , we took part in a three-hour cooking workshop dedicated to kamayan, a traditional Filipino way of sharing a meal, often served on banana leaves and enjoyed with your hands. ✨

On the menu: Filipino cooking techniques, fish preparation, and two dishes to discover: palabok and Bicolano. We wrapped up the experience by gathering around the table to enjoy the feast we had prepared together. šŸ™ŒšŸ¼šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

A beautiful way to learn more about Filipino culture, one bite at a time! ā¤ļø

Some old postcards from our first trip to Vietnam (2023) — featuring the sights we saw and friends we made along the way. Shot on my mirrorless cam.

Looking for a meal like no other? Head to NDG and check out @restomukja , a cozy neighbourhood Korean spot. ā¤ļø

Their new sotbap menu was waiting for me: pressure-cooked rice served steaming hot with the topping of your choice, surrounded by banchan to nibble on between bites. šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼

We tried pretty much everything we were craving: sotbap with mackerel, beef, mushrooms, spicy eggplant and pork, plus the samgyetang (ginseng chicken stuffed with sticky rice), the seafood pajeon, the spicy stir-fried octopus and a slow-simmered gomtang. šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

All of it washed down with makgeolli in slush form (a huge favourite of mine). šŸ™ŒšŸ¼

Great food, great company, warm atmosphere. We're definitely going back. ✨

TORONTO → MONTRÉAL šŸ”šŸ—”ļøšŸ Sunday, September 20, we’re turning La Spada into a BURGER JOINT.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20
11:30 AM → SOLD OUT
šŸ“ LA SPADA

NEXT SLIDE FOR FRENCH

The @burgerdrops crew is loading up the truck and driving down the 401 from Toronto to spend the day with us and we couldn’t be more excited.

Burger Drops started back in 2018 as a backyard passion project from @gregbourolias, eventually turning into sold-out pop-ups all over Toronto before finding a permanent home in Liberty Village. What makes them special is obsessive attention to the little details, great ingredients, and a seemingly simple burger done really, really well.

For one day, we’re infusing the Burger Drops energy into La Spada.

THE MENU:

šŸ” LA SPADA BURGER
AAA Canadian beef, fresh mozzarella from @theoriginaltonycheese , basil pesto, balsamic mayo + heirloom tomato on a toasted potato roll.

šŸŸ CACIO E PEPE CURLY FRIES
Lemon pepper curly fries, provolone béchamel, cracked pepper, crispy garlic + Parmigiano.

šŸ© THE CRULLER SUNDAE
Homemade cruller, lemon curd, Special vanilla dune pepper ice cream from @patisserie.melilot + basil-infused white chocolate.

And because it’s Negroni Week, we’ll have a few special Negronis flowing all day too. 🄃

We’re opening the windows, turning up the music, and filling the dining room with burgers, fries and you, our friends.

Eat it at the shop. Take it to go. Come hang. One day only.

TORONTO → MONTRÉAL šŸ”šŸ—”ļøšŸ Dimanche 20 septembre, on transforme La Spada en BURGER JOINT.

DIMANCHE 20 SEPTEMBRE

For many Asians, rice is life! NDG's Korean restaurant @restomukja just introduced their new line of sotbap: pressure-cooked rice topped with your choice of proteins and served alongside banchan (Korean side dishes).

Here’s what we had:

• Samgyetang – young ginseng chicken soup with glutinous rice
• Four Sotbap varieties: mackerel, spicy grilled eggplant and pork, beef, and mushroom
• Haemul pajeon – savoury seafood pancake
• Jjukkumi bokkeum – spicy baby octopus
• Gomtang – beef bone soup
• Makgeolli slush
