Someone playfully asked me… “Who Are You?” And it made me think for a moment. If you introduced yourself without mentioning your work or your accomplishments, what would you want someone to know…what would you say?

I’ve been sitting with that question. It’s easy to talk about what I’m building, what I’m working toward, and what’s next. But I want to be just as familiar with the woman who exists underneath all of that. What brings her joy. What moves her. What she loves simply because she loves it.

I’m proud of what I’m building, but there’s so much of me that a résumé or a business introduction could never capture. My creativity. My curiosity. My culture. My humor. The way I express myself, change my mind, dress for my mood, and give myself permission to be different from who I was yesterday.

Looking at all these different versions of myself, I see how much room there is within one person. I can be soft, bold, playful, sensual, serious, and still be entirely myself. Some parts of me are easy to share. Others I’m still getting to know. All of them deserve room in my life.

I wonder how often we leave those parts out because we don’t know how to explain their value. The things we enjoy without being particularly good at them. The interests we never fully explore. The moments that matter even when nobody sees them.

I want to give those parts of myself more attention. To enjoy something without asking where it’s taking me. To rest without feeling like I have to earn it. To feel connected to myself even when I have no accomplishment to point to.

These photos hold different expressions of the same woman. My work is part of her story, but there is so much more I want to know, experience, and be.

I think I needed a little time to fully take this night in. 💚

The Legacy Dinner started as an idea… a way to bring people together around something I believed deeply in and ask them to believe in it with me. And you did!

You bought the tickets. You sponsored. You donated. You contributed your businesses, your talents, your resources, your time. You shared the vision with other people. You made introductions. You encouraged me. And ultimately, you walked into that room and showed me that this vision was worth showing up for. I don’t take any of that lightly.

To every person who sat in that room, thank you. It was so special looking around and seeing people from so many different parts of my life, and people I had only recently met, gathered together because they believed in what NextGen Business Lab could become.

To every sponsor, partner, vendor, performer, contributor, friend, family member, and supporter who helped make The Legacy Dinner possible, thank you for trusting the vision. Thank you for seeing it. And thank you for helping me bring it to life.

In just a couple of weeks, our Founding Cohort - the Class of 2027 - will begin their NextGen Business Lab journey. Now we get to do the work.

We get to pour into these young people.

On September 19, I’ll be celebrating another year of life surrounded by people I love, people I’ve met along the journey, and people who believe in what I’m building.

But instead of simply throwing a birthday party, I decided to turn the celebration into something that could make an impact beyond me.

The Legacy Dinner is my birthday celebration—and a fundraiser benefiting NextGen Business Lab.
