Y’all, this show!!! I can’t even put into words how great this was. And being there with our good friends, Beth & Wolfgang made this night one for the books!
The collab of Ali singing some of my all time favorites from the 60’s & 70’s with an 18 piece big band was just magical! We are so lucky to have all of this talent in RVA! Deau Eyes “Tour de Richmond” is off to an amazing start! @deau_eyes @alithibs

This drawing was started during first residency @citedesartsparis in 2019 when I just switching to ink from oil. Inspired by the views from the window, through the plane trees, I felt like I was living on a treehouse with the pigeons. Exploring Paris for those two months, discussing the Notre Dame fire that happened a few months prior to my visit, observing the inhabits and infrastructure of Paris and of the Cité des arts all added elements into the drawing. I completed many other ink drawings during that ( and subsequent) residency. But this one was transported back and forth during each of three residencies there ‘19, ‘22, and ‘24 - each adding new elements , of the reconstruction process of Notre Dame, e.g. it was finally completed during the third residency. I also created short films and animations based on the pigeon’s eye view of Paris that accompanies this drawing. The size is 56”x20”
