✨ Key Collective Recap at de Gournay ✨ @degournay

There’s something really special that happens when you put the right group of designers in a room together.

Our recent Key Collective, hosted in the most exquisite, cozy setting at de Gournay, was exactly that. Just designers gathered round… going far beyond the surface, getting honest, and truly connecting.

Each designer came in with something on their mind, questions about bidding projects, tough clients, uncomfortable business decisions, and what unfolded felt like a spring cleaning of the minds. The kind where you leave feeling lighter, clearer, and completely understood.

And that’s exactly what we heard:

“I definitely have grown so much since our last Key Collective. These conversations are really so helpful. I left feeling like we had just had an in-depth therapy session & felt so good!” — Alexandra Peck

“It was WONDERFUL! Like mommy + me for designers!!” — Ali Vivoda

“What an amazing day!!!!!! …such good therapy in the MOST GORGEOUS SPACE EVER!!!!” — Julie Beuerlein

“I’m so glad I could be there and get great advice! The ladies you brought together were all amazing!” — Amanda Adams

It’s not just about solving problems, it’s about being in a room where everyone gets it. Where you can share openly, learn from each other’s experiences, and walk away with real solutions (and a few new designer friends, too).

Already counting down to the next one, coming this fall. 🤍

ICAA events are always noteworthy, but their recent members-only Summer Soirée felt like a much-needed midweek respite from our daily routines. The vibe? Old-world charm meets modern sophistication. Held at Ancient Moderne’s incredible indoor/outdoor space on Melrose in the heart of West Hollywood, attendees mixed, mingled, sipped and snacked surrounded by Ancient Moderne’s stunning array of indoor and outdoor European and architectural antique treasures.

We’re fierce supporters of the ICAA (Institute of Classical Architecture & Art) and their mission to actively preserve and promote classical architecture and art through education, advocacy, and community building. We’ve seen firsthand how their diverse programs ensure the continuation and appreciation of this timeless tradition and are proud to be part of their efforts to create more beautiful and livable environments. If you’re interested in learning how you can become a part of the ICAA, make sure to visit their website at: https://www.classicist.org/chapters/southern-california-chapter/

Thanks ICAA for a wonderful event, and for everything you do.

6 months after the L.A. fires. I drove all over and visited our home a couple weeks ago and… it’s going to be a slow, long road back for the Palisades. But we’ll be there. 💙

Zibby’s Bookshop collaborated with KULE and Darcy Miller Designs to give back books to school libraries affected by the fires. The t-shirts (“We ❤️ LA”) are available on the KULE website. Link in stories!

What a value-packed day inside the @walkyourplansla Studio with our Circaphiles community! 🤍 Our members-only session gave designers a hands-on look at how this innovative tech can streamline the design process—from walking clients through floor plans in real time to aligning decisions with the full build team *before* construction even begins.

Shoutout to the members Alexandra Peck, Patrick Ediger and Krista Everage who saw their own projects projected and brought to life in the studio! 👏

We explored how to:
✅ Speed up client approvals
✅ Minimize costly change orders
✅ Improve ROI and overall satisfaction

We’re all about empowering designers with resources that make a difference. Already looking forward to the next one!

Huge thanks to everyone who came out for our summer screening of Design in Mind: James Ivory – Architect of Cinema.

It was a beautiful evening with French wine, great company, and an inspiring look at how legendary director James Ivory’s love of traditional architecture shaped his iconic films.

We’re so grateful to the estate of Christopher H. Browne and the Orville Gordon Browne Foundation for making the film possible, to The Golden Lion for hosting—and to all of you for sharing the evening with us.

Today’s #DailyJoyNoteChallenge – May 24th, 2025. 😊
Epic day of family stuff!

Went to visit my father this afternoon with the family.

I’ve been teaching the boys about the power of questions, particularly open-ended questions.

My father is 89 and experiencing age-related memory decline so getting his brain engaged by asking him open-ended questions is a way to keep the cognitive wheels turning.

With the boys, I’m nudging them to keep the open-ended questions going with my dad, as if they are playing the game they played as kids of trying to keep a ballon in the air without it landing on the ground.

The conversation led to a mini-Japanese lesson where Mingus asked a lot of questions about Japanese food. He wants to learn Japanese this summer so it would be great for so many reasons if he can learn some from his Ojiisan.

We then drove over to the Closing party of David’s art show at @vefagallery Super fun and got to see some of our friends there and some of David’s former art students – so sweet of them to come out to support David! Had lots of interesting and nurturing conversations.

Krista and John came to the show; @everagedesign their daughter @ericaeverageart is a former student of David’s. And Tammy and Joel came; their son Sam is one of Mingus’ closest friends.

I got a lot of compliments on a new blazer I bought from my friend, the fashion designer LesKarten - Leslie Karten @leskarten - check out her incredible designs!

At the end, we took some family photos and videos with a remote shutter release, so fun!

☺️🥳🎉💘💖🥰
