"Never work with children or animals" ❌ - I'm sorry W.C. Fields but after the dog interviews and my latest job, I'll have to disagree.

I had an absolute blast providing Social Media for @ittfworld on behalf of AMP Media at ITTF World Hopes Week & Challenge in one of my favourite British cities, Sheffield, at the English Institute of Sport.

Bringing together some of the best U12 table tennis players in the world from every habitable continent (penguins can't hold the bats properly), Hopes Week gives them a week of practice with some of the best coaches, led by Eva and Nuria, while getting to play others at a similar level to themselves.

I was very impressed by the athletes, not just for their performance and style, but the politeness and professionalism they showed, and their confidence in front of the camera. Most of all, it was lovely to see them all having fun and making new friends.

For me, having more experience on-site in a social media specific role was a great challenge. Sometimes I underplay my own ability, and this week showed I am much better at filming and editing than I give myself credit for.

Thank you to all the staff on and off site at ITTF, Table Tennis England, the English Institute of Sport and AMP Media for your support.

Best of all, I even managed a wee Pulpgrimage to Stanhope Road when out on a run. IYKYK.

Great day yesterday @repitoutuk in Sheffield.

Last comp of the year and it was a belter.

Some great events, even better athletes and a good fun day out with the @thecrossfitretford teams and everyone who came to support.

1 event win, a few good placings and overall 4th out of 24 teams so no complaints.

37 and trying to keep up with my 25 year old team mate @morganbrown_coach 😂👴

Now a few days to recover from the full body doms that have taken over!

The return - it’s finally time.

It’s been a long time, there’s a long road back, but the work is in motion.

Over the last year whilst being injured I’ve spent countless hours dreaming about being back on the track, and in that time a lot has changed.

The road to sub 20 is a test of persistence, faith, & mental strength, and I’m feeling as ready as ever to take on the challenge.

People have short-term memories, the clock is forever.

@thespeedoperation YouTube series is back: next week.

Follow the journey.
