Carl Dinner Party No. 85 An end of August "Pepper Party" We are rolling in sweet and hot peppers right now so we snuck them into many of the courses - calabrian chiles, habanadas, and fan favorite Jimmy Nardellos We started off with a fermented tomato gibson that accidentally matched the color of our chairs! Sneak preview of an upcoming episide of @everyonesacriticphl - when host @kaelanisays asked contestants @sharonthompsonschill and @jenicainphilly to name a sandwich (other than hoagies, cheesesteaks, and roast pork) that people should be talking about, Sharon immediately rang in and said "Tuna Melt !!" Kae Lani's repsonse that this might be a controversial answer led to a week of tuna melt conversations and as a result we made one for the cocktail hour (featuring pickles that we got as a thank you gift from @fishtownpickles at their collab dinner with Uchi) The "Intergalactic Eggplant" was a throwback to a dish that Sharon bought to a @deliciouscitypodcast party four years ago (@elikulp - do you remember?) featuring her favorite @perrysteaddairy cheese And dessert was primarily an excuse to grate a lot of @thefarmatdoerun St Malachi Reserve - which we did on top of star anise spiced plum preserves with a @foxandsonphilly batter funnel cake (we need some practice funneling but they tasted great!!) Still serving melon and eggplant and tomatoes and corn until summer says stop. Especially loved talking about Dorene's "Kellogg's Breakfast Tomato" @hillcreekfarmpa
