. [I saw you standin' by the @Slurpee machine. White studded belt and skintight jeans. I tried to buy you a hostess cupcake. Baby, you're so sweet I got a toothache] [šŸŽ¶] . This stereo I got at Value Village for only 20 (twenty!) bones has changed my life. Playing records and tapes in my room feels so fucking right. So, as youā€™re probably aware, a few years ago I built a Jerry Maguire FREE vhs dispenser. Itā€™s lived at several different places over the years but now resides at @oklahomafilmexchange - Oklahomaā€™s ONLY micro-cinema! I was obviously inspired by those @everythingisterrible666 cats and Iā€™ve had a blast going to their live shows and collecting Jerrys for the dispenser. ā€‹ The issue is that lately I fear that the OKC Jerry spring has dried up. Itā€™s become harder and harder to find Jerrys here in town. I assume just hundreds and hundreds of families are collecting and keeping these Jerrys for themselves. Which, of course, is what we want. These beloved Jerrys adorning family mantels and holding prized positions on shelfā€™s all across town. However as my dispenser is regularly empty due to obvious demand, Iā€™ve had to think outside the box in order to continue to supply the FREE Jerry Maguire VHS tapes that Oklahoma City is hungry for. So I went to eBay and found exactly what I was looking for - a lot for 308 Jerry Maguire VHS tapes!!! With shipping and everything it all came out to about $2.32 a Jerry, which isnā€™t bad at all. So the day finally came and I got the shipment delivered in 5 boxes in total. After going through them hereā€™s what I found: it actually ended up being 320 Jerrys, 1 copy of 2000ā€™s MISS CONGENIALITY, only 1 tape ravaged by mold, 1 poor crushed Jerry, and several other unique tapes with misplace factory stickers, fun video store stickers, 8 unopened and brand new Jerrys, so many tapes with their owners names, and even a For Your Consideration OSCAR screener Jerry! These beloved Jerrys will now be available at the dispenser @oklahomafilmexchange so, come on by, grab a Jerry, and catch a flick! šŸ“¼ šŸ“¼ šŸ“¼ #vhsandchillokc #everythingisterrible #oklahomafilmexchange #jerrymaguire #seeokc

Most museums put art behind glass and ask you to whisper. Tomorrow, LACMA (@lacma) does the opposite. It closes the street, hands it to 150 artists, and lets the work walk down the road on its own. Thatā€™s the part worth watchingā€”not the size of it, the spirit. This is the LACMA Block Party, the celebration for the grand opening of the new David Geffen Galleriesā€”twenty years in the makingā€”landing on the first day of summer. One free, all-day street party. DJ sets and live music start in the morning, MAMA (@mama.feedme) food market runs throughout, and at 6pm the Art Parade rolls down the boulevard. This oneā€™s personal. Park La Brea, sandwiched between LACMA and the Grove (@thegrovela), is where I used to call home. If you can make it, go. Itā€™s free, you just RSVP on @lacmaā€™s page for gallery access. Their schedule has the full lineup. Iā€™m making the trip in from San Diego. Come find me there, and if you canā€™t, watch this space, Iā€™ll bring it to you. šŸ“ LACMA Block Party, Sat June 20. @lacma Makers in order of appearance: @merissaonamission @zeemonday @everythingisterrible666 @rediscoverctr @j.villegas77 @obeygiant Graphic credited to @lacma & @mama.feedme

LIVE! Everything Is Terrible & Memory Hole present ANIMALS ARE OVER ā€¢ Sunday June 21 at Central Cinema Central Cinema is pleased to welcome video scavenger collective Everything Is Terrible! for a live show presentation of the newest ā€œhorror collageā€ from their Memory Hole offshoot. Donā€™t miss this one... tickets on sale now! ā€“ā€“ā€“ā€“ Everything Is Terrible!ā€™s Memory Hole is back with a new piece of horror video collage made from thousands of real home movies that will turn the viewerā€™s blood into a viscous, demonic sludge of oil and microplastics. Everyone has been feeling it, but no one has been brave enough to say it outloudā€¦ Animals Are Over. It is a depressing truth that must be explored. Our current version of humanity is so shortsighted and clueless as to our own position in Kingdom Animalia that we are destroying all animals, ourselves included for the sake of cheap dopamine blasts and to bolster the profits of a few loser billionaires. You donā€™t believe us? After seeing this show you will. Memory Hole is an experimental documentary series brought to you by the minds behind the art collective Everything is Terrible! and a secret, unnameable iconic American media accomplice. Memory Hole is an autopsy of our collective memory. Like time lapse footage of a decomposing animal it is always happening right before your very eyes, yet invisible until sequenced and cataloged. A terrifying multisensory experience, Memory Hole takes actual home movies, recontextualizes and splices them together to take a hard look at what this country has been doing unnoticed in the 80ā€™s, 90ā€™s and 00ā€™s. The results are more unsettling than any horror film, creating a snapshot of the eerie precursor to internet fame. This is the origin story of social media, youtube reality stars, and selfies. Memory Hole is an autopsy of our collective pre-internet memory of a culture obsessed with capturing and sharing its own image.
