El Vínculo Hispano Fiesta de la Herencia Hispana is one of my fav events to attend as both a vendor and a visitor haha. The biggest muñeca is my fav part of the whole thing (slide 4)🤩. Thank you to everyone that joined us yesterday to enjoy some good food, amazing musicians (seriously, I can’t believe we get to listen to these super talented musicians for free! EVH knows their music!), great art and crafts, live dances and much more! Shout out to @bwpepe , Featured Artist for the 13th Hispanic Heritage Fiesta for the beautiful stickers (slide 5). His artwork is featured at the NC Arts Incubator Gallery @ncartsincubator in Siler City. I’m glad the rain held off until the last hour, forreal it only started drizzling until 15 mins before 5pm 😌. Shoutout to all the volunteers, y’all were braving the heat n humidity, true superheroes! 🥹. Thanks to the amazing familiar faces, people I met and the ones who ended up collecting some art from me. You are truly appreciated and make the difference. 🫶🏽☺️ My next show is at the Brown & Blooming Art Exhibition at Soul Sanctuary, Durham, NC next Saturday Sept 19th from 12pm-4pm. I’ll have some zines with me! Until next time! 🫶🏽🌻🐺 #thingstodoinpittsboro #thingstodoindurham #ncartist

Highlights from an incredible celebration yesterday at Fiesta! @evh_nc has been serving our community for 31 years. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do. It’s vital we all have safe spaces to be ourselves and celebrate our culture with others. I greatly enjoyed the music, festivities, and had some tasty pupusas!

When Selina Lopez moved to rural North Carolina from Mexico at age 5, she had to navigate elementary school without an ESL program and became an interpreter for her family, all while facing discrimination. A neighbor suggested that she apply to the @ncssm_durham in Durham for high school, and Selina was accepted. Her time there opened her eyes to a world of possibilities. In 2016 she became a U.S. citizen, and in 2017 she graduated from @uncchapelhill with dual degrees in psychology and Hispanic literature and cultures. Along the way, Selina poured herself into becoming the mentor she never had. She is the youth program director at @evh_nc in Siler City and leads Orgullo Latinx Pride, a holistic program serving Latinx students at @chathamcountyschools. Selina is currently studying to become an even better social worker and hopes to expand OLP’s reach. Read more about Selina’s story and her work at the 🔗 in our bio! 📸 by @jmsimpsonphoto
