Congratulations to our Para Team on a huge weekend at the Australian National Championships!

Noah and Lily made their debut on the mats, showing lots of grit and courage, while Evie claimed gold after two really solid fights.

A huge shoutout also to Para Coach Jess Borg, who has worked closely with our para athletes, the Australian Para Program and the QAS. Jess’ commitment to the program and her athletes was also recognised over the weekend, with Jess named as a finalist for the Australian Taekwondo Performance Coach of the Year Award.

Well done to the whole team, lots to be proud of!

A fantastic result for Evie Ruffle, bringing home a bronze medal from the Asian Para President’s Cup in Lahore, Pakistan!

We’re incredibly proud to see Evie out there representing Australia and continuing to test herself on the international stage.

A well-earned medal and another important step forward. There’s plenty more to come from this young athlete and her coach @_jessicaborg_

Congratulations, Evie, we’re very proud of you!

BRONZE IN LAHORE 🇦🇺 A fantastic result for Evie Ruffle and Shrijana Ghising, both claiming Bronze Medals at the Asian Para President’s Cup in Lahore, Pakistan, proudly representing Australia on the international stage. 🇦🇺🥉🥉

Evie produced a strong quarter-final performance, defeating her Brazilian opponent 2–0 before facing a familiar Russian opponent in the semi-final. Just one month after meeting at the Korean Open, Evie showed clear progress and significant improvement, narrowly missing out against the eventual Gold Medallist.

As the No.1 seed, Shrijana faced Iran in her semi-final and took the opening round. The next two rounds could not have been closer, with both decided by just a single scoring kick, as the Iranian athlete progressed and went on to claim Gold.

Two Bronze Medals, but more importantly, great performances, valuable international experience and clear growth.

We are extremely proud of both athletes. 🇦🇺💚💛

Bronze for Evie Ruffle at the Gangwon Chuncheon 2026 World Para Taekwondo Open Challenge!

What an incredible international debut for Evie Ruffle, claiming Bronze in the K44 +65kg division and securing Australia’s second Para medal of the tournament.

Evie’s journey to the podium included:
🥋 Quarter Final: Defeated Brazil’s world No. 10, winning 2–1.
🥋 Semi Final: Faced Russia’s world No. 5, a Paralympian and recent GP Roma G6 Silver Medallist, going down 0–2 in a hard-fought contest. The opening round was decided by the narrowest of margins, with Evie losing on hits after a draw, before another closely contested second round.

To step onto the world stage at her first official G4 international event, earn a bronze medal, and immediately move into the top 30 of the World Rankings is an outstanding achievement and a sign of what’s to come.

A special congratulations to Coach Jessica Borg, whose hard work and dedication, under the guidance of GMA Queensland has helped lay the foundation for this fantastic result.

Congratulations, Evie! The future is incredibly bright. 🇦🇺🥋👏
