🚨 DONATE NOW TO HELP STOP THE DOG’S HEAD DEAL. Austin’s future is on the line. @poder.austin @saveoursprings

NOT AGAIN, AUSTIN. HOW MUCH OF OUR CITY ARE THEY SELLING BEHIND CLOSED DOORS?

😣Dog’s Head is a massive 2,645-acre property with more than 6 miles of Colorado River frontage (for a size comp think 9 X the size of the domain, 8 zilker parks, or downtown Austin + UT campus...) What happens here will shape our river, our land, and our city forever. (READ ON)

Here’s what why we’re suing and why even $5 will help us win the fight ⬇️

🤫 NEGOTIATIONS BEHIND CLOSED DOORS: City leadership used nondisclosure agreements to conceal the initial project from both the public and the City’s own staff. The public learned “Project Toaster” was a 300-acre AMAZON ROBOTICS 🤖 factory just two days before Council locked in the tax-rebate plan. (READ ON)

💸 UP TO $2 BILLION in projected future property and sales tax revenue could be redirected to reimburse a private developer over 35 years. This money would otherwise go into the General Fund to fund libraries, schools and parks for the city. The final amount is uncapped.

🏛️ 45 YEARS OF DEVELOPER POWER: The agreement gives a private developer extraordinary power over future city Council decisions by excluding city board and commissions from decisionmaking, removing normal public process, and granting a unilateral veto power to the developer instead. (READ ON)

😕REDUCED ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTIONS ALONG COLORADO RIVER: The agreement weakens environmental protections, waives parkland dedication requirements, and removes protections along the Colorado riverfront by reducing the protected “Critical Water Quality Zone” along the shoreline. (READ ON)
