christmas is the time to be thankful, and we appreciate all of the haunts and haunters that make the #homehaunt community great. in all of the madness surrounding halloween set-up and break-down, this postcard from @evilvines got lost in the shuffle, but we wanted to take a moment to thank them and send some love their way this holiday season

Here's a special request Throwback/Bow Tie Thursday for you. This was my New Year's Eve get-up a couple of years back. I was quite debonair, if I do say so myself.

I know we haven't done a Bow Tie Thursday in awhile, but Food Lady needs to buy new bow ties. It's a very sad situation. I'm sure everyone's sick of seeing me in the same old ties. I need a new wardrobe, woman! Snap snap, get to it. She's so lazy. - Dapper Jem
.
(I am lazy. And he does need new ties. He's not wrong. I'll speak to the financial advisor and see if we can get a bow tie budget worked out. He's typically a frugal guy, but I think he'll understand that this is a serious situation and release some funds... or we'll tell Scout he called her a "boombalatty". She'll fix his little red wagon for sure. - Food Lady)

This beauty is just waiting to be cracked open! Since it’s the first of the season for me, I’ll probably just eat the seeds fresh out of the pomegranate. I’ll break it open and peel it while it’s submerged in a bowl of water to minimize mess and keep my kitchen from looking like a crime scene.
I also like to use the seeds in salads, to top butternut squash soup for a burst of tartness, and in rice pilaf for a bit of freshness.
What is your favorite way to cook with pomegranate?

We have new admirers, Ryan and Maureen! They enjoyed videos of Big Dumb Brother eating waffle, but thought it was terribly unfair that I was not featured in any video of whipped cream consumption. So, in honor of dear Ryan's upcoming birthday, Daddy, being a fairly obedient peasant, took this footage of me. You'll notice my special white bowl, in which I assure you there is tasty tasty cream. (Note, gentle reader, there shall be no other bowl used for cream, only my precious white bowl. It is mine! MINE! MINE ALONE!! Ahem. Apologies.) Anyway, so admire my grace and charm as I daintily consume my well deserved treat. I am the Princess, I am always deserving. - Scout

(We were thrilled to hear about Ryan and Maureen enjoying our posts! So good to know when someone "gets us". And happy early birthday, Ryan! - Food Lady)

Thanks to @evilvines for making my Friday a good mail day! Their generous gift of homegrown sage and Meyer lemons are helping to make the New Year feel fresh and sunny - just what I needed to help cure some rainy winter doldrums here in western WA state. This lemon curd recipe sounds simple and delicious, and I just so happen to have a great scone recipe that would be the perfect accompaniment. Plus tea, of course!⠀

What do you eat when it’s a million degrees(or at least feels like it is!) outside? If you’re lucky enough to have a sweet neighbor who makes you gazpacho, you eat a delicious chilled soup of tomatoes & cucumber with a swirl of really great olive oil!🍅 🥒 .

Getting ready for our neighborhood ‘Driveway Dinner Party’ in an effort to support our local Napa restaurants.
Our tribe of Euclid Ave. neighbors have been through some ‘stuff’ - the 2014 Napa earthquake, the 2017 (etc.etc.) wildfires, and now this COVID19 pandemic. We could not ask for a better group of people to have as our neighbors! It’s nice to know when the chips are down, the #EuclideanClan rises up...💕
