Spent Sept-Nov in travel mode, seeing friends, writing, and making weird art (incl. a life-size ghost with just chicken wire & scrap fabric).

Be intentional about joy.

I'm grateful to share that I have a new poem titled "Thriving!" in @voicemailpoems Truth be told though, the timing feels incongruent with how I'm actually feeling right now. I wrote this poem during a time of celebration. But, the past few weeks have been punctuated with loss in many capacities.

I am tired and raw and grieving and screaming. How thin the lines between laughter, anger, tears and how quickly I've been swinging through them all lately. I'm dizzy.

But when the joy does come, it is sharper in contrast. Let us carry it as a torch through the darkness we find ourselves in. Let us not rest until it fills a room with its brightness and we look around to see the relieved faces of every person who thought they may never see such a thing.

So even though I can't feel this poem right now as I did when I wrote it, I'm upholding it and the memories around it as a beacon.

Here are photos of people I'm in love with + a new poem. Thanks @thefruitslice for including me in your second issue, Platonic Romance & Chosen Bonds.

A little backstory:
In December, Katie, Sophia and I were on an ✨adventure✨ at Scrap Exchange* and ran into a friend of Katie's. What followed was an effervescent conversation about art, ornaments, and fun anecdotes about friendship, like joking w/Blue about having beef with them.

That run-in had me reflecting on how everyone starts as an interesting character** before transitioning into a friend and what inspires us to pursue that transition in the first place!

'you dance unprompted' is a love note to my sweet, queer, quirky community and every person in it. 🍊

*also, shout out to whoever sets the @scrapexchange playlist. The alt r&b vibes are always immaculate

**especially folks like @blueveggies__ who I heard talked about so often & with such love when I first moved to Durham, but didn't actually meet until 6 months later
