At the end of class, 8 members participated in a single elimination in-house Shankjitsu tournament that tests their skills and for their chance to win a small prize. After a five second countdown, participants could draw either their knife or pick up a gun from the ground.

Our tournament prize this week is sponsored by our club's favorite pizzeria: @louiespizza. Come check out their grandma pie! Already had one? Try one with toppings. Or try it again! It's THAT good. Congratulations to @oscar.duran.9216 for winning his first tournament, making it the second time he has won pizza from Louie's!

We also want to thank @lovexyz.co for treating us to cake after practice!

Shankjitsu was the codename for a clinch and weapons fighting system prototyped by Dragon Combat Club during the pandemic as a countermeasure for anti-Asian violence in New York City. This training, consisting of a series of games that rapidly improved individuals’ awareness, physical attributes, and mental attributes, was invaluable for saving countless lives. Sometimes, this happened during subway support missions when practitioners signed up to help the elderly up and down the subway station stairs, where violent hate crimes often happened. Today, DCC members continue to play these games for self-improvement, recreation, and community building.

These games are strictly meant to accelerate skill and attribute building in specific areas (particularly the intersection of clinch work and weapons) while providing entertainment through simulating specific variables/aspects of reality. Therefore, these games are NOT meant to simulate the totality of circumstances that one would face in a self-scenario, nor are they meant to.
