Working hard over here getting things together for my first solo show Neural Threads. This body of work was born from my experience with migraine disease, autism and the neurological threads that tie them together. It is on view 9/4 - 10/2 @evolvecoaching new building at 5025 Penn Avenue, Pgh.

What do you look for in a manager?

Whether you hire someone in a management role or you report to a manager, what qualities are must-haves? Is it enough that they are diligent and know how to get the job done, or is how they get the job done important?

In Forbes' recent article, "Autism and Why Getting Hired is Only the Beginning," Johanna Murphy shares her insights on the importance of managers' behavior, as they are "the first line of defense in terms of shaping psychological safety in the office. The behavior they model and the behavior they accept from their teams goes a long way toward establishing group norms."

Lu, Executive Director of Autism Connection of PA and Johanna Murphy, Inclusion Director of @evolvecoaching are excited to celebrate the completion of four collaborative training workshops with professionals from across the Carnegie and Kamin Museums.

Together, we explored ways to create more welcoming and accessible museum experiences for people with developmental disabilities; as visitors, volunteers, and employees. Our conversations focused on identifying and removing barriers before they become obstacles.

This is just the beginning of a larger accessibility journey. We are grateful to everyone who participated, from executive leadership to frontline staff and every team member in between. Thank you for your engagement, commitment, and partnership in building more inclusive communities.

We had a wonderful time at Social Practice: No Pressure Edition with Evolve Coaching and support from Remake Learning.
Youth practiced real-life conversation skills in a supportive, low-pressure space while also exploring mindfulness and regulation tools to help navigate stress and uncertainty in social situations. Several participants shared that they plan to use these regulation strategies during future conversations and interactions. 💛

We’re grateful for the thoughtful conversations, courage, and community that filled the space.

We've been taking photos and working with the great folks at Evolve Coaching for a decade as of last fall! In addition to capturing their annual fundraiser and camp programs, we've taught workshops, created websites, and provided mentorship to some of their dynamic young clients.⁠

We've been friends with Co-Founder/Executive Director Heather Conroy for even longer, as her husband Travis was Sam's co-worker at Pittsburgh Glass Center. And Sam served on the board of Brew House Arts with Co-Founder and Director of Programs, Joe Farrell. Lots of fun overlap.⁠

Every time we work with Evolve, we meet artists we've never met before, see creativity on display in so many forms, and we learn something. The incredible staff is so generous with their knowledge, time, and enthusiasm for cultivating a truly inclusive space and culture.⁠

Sam reached out when working with one of their young clients to create some business assets because a family member of that client was inserting themselves into the process and generally being non-awesome, and she felt really unsure how to handle it.
