If you told me a year ago that Joe and I would be traveling five hours to attend a worship experience where we’d listen to a pastor preach and sing along to worship music, I wouldn’t have believed you.

Growing up, church was mostly for holidays… eventually only for baptisms or funerals. It’s not that I didn’t believe in God, I prayed all the time! I just never found my church or felt ready to learn more. Joe was about the same with his church attendance. After losing both his parents in 2023, I honestly didn’t know if he’d ever willingly go back.

I even vowed during our wedding to help Joe keep his faith like his dad did. But how was I supposed to do that when we weren’t going ourselves?

So I got creative this past March on Ash Wednesday.. I called his cousin, asked if she and her husband were going, and had her text us both in a group chat to invite us 🤣 and it worked!

A few weeks later, we planned to go to Palm Sunday Mass but made excuses not to. Instead, we saw Elevation Church was going live on YouTube and decided to tune in. One service turned into another… and now, almost every Sunday we watch!! 🙏

But our journey didn’t start and end there. Leading up to all of that was years of guidance from patient friends that have turned into family. Friends and family that were in fact our first “Bible,” throwing the football around talking about God, open conversations around the kitchen island, family encouragement, one song (Waymaker by Tyson James) that sent us on a worship music path, tuning into each others favorite priests, pastors and even going to church together out of state. Joes BBB nights, group chats, FaceTimes asking how to use my first Bible book, mini Bible studies, being invited to the FEST, dancing to your friend singing worship music, or just a simple phone call to someone you know will suggest the right page for what you’re going through, these are just a few things… it’s amazing what God can do when you open your heart! 🙏💚🤍

We are still very new on our journey and still have a long way to go, but I trust in God.

Elevation Nights was more than a worship experience, it was a reminder of how far we’ve come and how good He’s been 🤍

Honestly, the best part of Halloween Horror Nights for me wasn’t even the scares… it was having Diagon Alley practically to myself at 1:30 a.m. ✨ (at 50 seconds into the video you can see!)
