Some amazing public events coming up for Reckless zrolodex including a virtual tour this afternoon 3:00–4:00 pm CT. “Join Gallery 400 and UIC Disability Cultural Center, Director Margaret Fink for a virtual tour of Reckless Rolodex, our on-view exhibition celebrating Lawrence Steger, a Chicago-based performance artist who explored desire and sexuality in his work until his untimely death in 1999 due to AIDS-related complications. Instead of a retrospective of Steger’s work, Reckless Rolodex presents contemporary artists responding to his legacy through artworks and performances.” Link in bio ❤️

Join us this Saturday, February 4th at 2PM for a discussion between artist Max Guy and Lin Hixson and Matthew Goulish of Every house has a door. The discussion will take place in the Classics Building, Room 110 located at 1010 E 59th St.

Since 2008, Chicago-based performance group Every house has a door has created dynamic, multi-faceted works that often draw out historically neglected subjects. Its founders Lin Hixson and Matthew Goulish frequently take on the respective roles of director and dramaturg, while working with a variable team of other artists—including occasional collaborations with Max Guy.

Centered on the story of The Wizard of Oz, Guy’s work in the gallery finds a range of peculiar resonances with 𝘚𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘸, a performance developed by Every house in collaboration with Finnish artist Essi Kausalainen and others. For the final weekend of Guy’s exhibition, the artist joins Hixson and Goulish in conversation to discuss their respective bodies of work as they intersect in and around the world of Oz.

Advance registration is encouraged, please see link in bio for more information.

Thankyou so much to everyone who came to An [Interrupted] Bestiary tonight. It somehow felt like finally introducing myself to Amsterdam - on purpose, with the cracks showing. Took me 2 and a half years to get here but so grateful to have finally arrived in some way and to feel held by an emerging community from whom I've already learnt so much. ❤
