Finding the groove with the Kai and the boys.

There's a specific kind of joy in this — me on guitar, him locked in on bass, Ewan on lead and Axel holding down the beats, a room full of friends making a joyful noise. Nothing on any set, no award, no wrap ever felt better than the moment we lock in and the pocket just *appears.* You chase that feeling your whole life. Turns out it was going to be standing in a living room with my kid.

Play music with your children. That's the whole post.

Had to make a painting for one of the best bands (and some of the best people), @themeltingmountainn ! If you haven’t already you should go “Take the Hike” and check out their debut album (under that name). Needless to say, I’m a fan of track #6 in particular, though it’s worth a listen cover to cover.

One show onstage, one in the audience, 18 hours of studio sessions, incredible music, and a late night double feature picture show with the best people. Not sure a week gets much better than that. Happy to be surrounded by great friends.

Peace out Boston, see you in a few weeks.

The Melting Mountain, a stellar jam band based in Boston, captured at their show 11/23/25 at the Loft. Be on the lookout for their upcoming studio album release “Take the Hike.” It will definitely be on heavy rotation at the Doc Rock studio. #musicphotographer #rockphotography #musicphotography
