Celebrating Juneteenth!

We are not free until we are all free, and although the Emancipation Proclamation was signed on January 1, 1863, over 250,000 slaves were not notified in Texas until June 19, 1865. Juneteenth commemorates an important time in American history, and we will continue on this celebration of liberation.
During this celebration we want to take the time to honor those that paved the way for us and those that continue to do the work that needs to be done. There are so many beautiful and powerful black creators that influence us to keep pressing towards the mark.
We collaborated with @CoveofAdvice this week and asked our followers who were some of their favorite influences. We have compiled all of the entries here for greatest influences, visual artists, interior designers, clothing designers, performing artists, and chefs. Be sure to check out @CoveofAdvice for our writers, business owners, local artists, film makers, photographers, and more!

Our greatest wish for you today is to be filled with joy. Many states are even starting to recognize today as a holiday which is monumental. Whether or not you have the opportunity to have the day off or not, we hope that you still celebrate. Celebrate because you can. Celebrate because we were not always allowed. Celebrate for those who came and those that will come. Celebrate the future!

Be sure to share the joy. How will you be celebrating Juneteenth today?
